St Mary Woolnoth, along with almost everything else in London, was destroyed in the Great Fire. The church received a face lift in 1716 by Nicholas Hawksmoor, the famous baroque architect. It is one of six Hawksmoor churches, but the only one in London –make the trip! St Mary Woolnoth was made immortal in T.S. Elliot's The Waste Land.
