Dating back to the 7th century, St Stephen Walbrook sits on the former site of the Walbrook River, which currently runs underground. The current church was rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the 15th century Great Fire of London. The dome's (famous) circular base is formed by eight of the twelve columns cutting across corners. In 1978 the controversial white stone altar, designed by Henry Moore, was added, unusually in the center. A unique church stop when touring London.
