Stay afloat with celebs |
81 Brewer Street London, London W1R 3FH +44 20 7437 1912 |
Board the much-hyped Marco Pierre White restaurant-bar for dining in discoesque surroundings. Splashy, flashy and renowned as a dinner destination of our pop and sports peerage, this liner-like venue sets sail of an evening with a cargo of celebs including Spice Girls, Ian Wright, Cerys Matthews, Goldie and the Gallaghers. With glittering mirror balls, blaring music and late-licence hedonism aplenty, the food is hardly on a par with other members of MPW's exquisite eating empire, like Quo Vadis or The Belvedere. Serving the likes of bang bang chicken or fish and chips, the intriguing menu has upgraded somewhat, to feature Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with truffle oil, followed by sautéed sea bream with ratatouille, aubergine caviar and shellfish sauce, or parmesan and sage crusted pork cutlet with braised endive and marsala sauce for £12-14. The menu has the epitaph "Be British" - the last words of Commander E.J. Smith, captain of the infamous ship as it sank into the deep in April 1912... a figure whimsically incorporated into the phone number. Review © 2009, Wcities |
