Waterloo Place, a pleasant square just off The Mall, is home to a troop of statues that tell the tale of the Victorian Era. War heroes and noblemen like the Duke of York, Edward VII, Florence Nightingale, Lord Herbert of Lea, Field Marshall J.F. Burgoyne, Lords Lawrence and Clyde, John Franklin and Scott of the Antarctic are represented. Memorial to the Crimea pays homage to the many soldiers that gave their lives for the good of the British Empire.
