Downtown's best art deco building |
Herengracht 148 Los Angeles, CA 1015 BW |
This is perhaps the best example of large-scale art deco design remaining in downtown Los Angeles. The building has a stately 13-story tower embellished by intriguing zigzag ornaments. It is formerly the Eastern Columbia Building but now houses dozens of wholesalers of apparel goods as well as a food court. Plus, with a location in the center of downtown (nearest cross street is Olympic), it stands among one of the few truly metropolitan backdrops in all of Southern California. Review © 2009, Wcities |
