The Celebration Theatre puts on original productions dealing with the gay and lesbian experience in all its aspects, from comedy to drama. Some of the shows here have legs. "Girlbar" became an independent movie. The nudie hit musical "Naked Boys Singing!" has moved to New York, opening off-Broadway. Sammy Williams who won a Tony award for his role in "A Chorus Line" performed here in the well-received "Too Old for the Chorus." This venue has won several awards for its shows as well as accolades for its practice of donating money to AIDS research. In addition, the theater has several programs to reach out to gay youth like workshops and educational seminars.
