This mecca for motion picture and television production is located in western Los Angeles County. It was historically home to MGM Studios, and today houses both National Public Radio West and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Culver City's studios declined in the 1960s and 70s due to the growth of housing developments in the area, but starting in the 1990s there was a renaissance for the motion picture industry in the area as Sony set up shop. Today, Culver City Art District is a popular cluster of over 20 contemporary art galleries that draw visitors from around the area.
