One of the truly unique things about Catalina is the presence of the amazing flying fish. This small fish has large wing-like fins with which it glides through the air for impressive distances, often in hundreds of feet. Used primarily as a means of escaping predators, the fish have from time to time landed in vessels docked in the harbors near Avalon. This tour company offers cruises that seek out the fish with a 40-million candle power searchlight, and commonly find dozens if not hundreds of them. It also offers a number of other tours in Catalina, on both land and sea, including glass-bottom boat tours and the exclusive Undersea Tour that utilizes a semi-submersible vessel. Nightly Flying Fish Tour departure times vary from mid-May through September, and the cruises last about 55 minutes.
