When Julia Child needed a baker for her television show on master chefs, she went to La Brea Bakery's Nancy Silverton. You can find many of these breads in almost every supermarket in town, but if you're in the neighborhood, stop by where it all began (located in the building that once housed Charlie Chaplin's studios). The tiny shop has daily sandwich specials and will do special orders with two days' notice. There's usually a line, but it moves quickly and it is well worth the wait. Review © 2009, Wcities |
