French tennis player Rene Lacoste was nicknamed, "the Alligator" by the American press after he made a bet with the captain of the French Davis Cup team over a suitcase made of alligator skin. The captain promised to give him the suitcase if he won an important game for the team. He did win and the name, "alligator" stuck because of his tenacity and ability to beat his opponents. In 1933 they turned the alligator into a business that today is one of the most well-known logos in the world. Today, Lacoste is still going strong and has refined its line of clothing for men, women, and children to bring it up-to-date in the new millennium. There is a greater color choice and their image is clean, fun and chic. They sell a complete line of sportswear that looks great both on and off the courts. Review © 2009, Wcities |
