This is the oldest museum in Orange County and still one of the best. Since 1918, the museum has exhibited the works of local artists (primarily painters), many of which now rank as California's finest of the 20th century. In addition to a formidable permanent collection, the museum hosts a full schedule of excellent exhibitions. One particularly memorable 1998 show explored the Centrlowjalifornia author John Steinbeck, while recent shows have focused on the works of young artists and impressionists. Admission is $5 for Adults, $4 for Students and Seniors 62 and over, and free to museum members and children under 12. It is also free every Tuesday and the first Thursday of every month from 5-8p.
