Los Angeles Harbor Cruise

Harbor and whale watching cruises

Operating out of the Port of L.A. in San Pedro, this tour company has four different reasonably priced cruises. Its most popular one is a whale-watching expedition, which only runs from late December through mid-April. The other three operate year-round and include the one-hour L.A. harbor cruise, the 90-minute L.A. harbor and Long Beach harbor cruise, and the two hour coastline cruise, which goes north around the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The latter is a great way to see the largely inaccessible peninsula, offering views of its rocky beaches, sheer cliffs and sprawling oceanfront estates. The whale-watching tours, which seek out the migrating gray whales, are almost guaranteed sightings of whales, as well as other marine mammals and other sea creatures. Call to make sure your desired cruise is not full or rained out. Bring a sweatshirt or light jacket, even in summer - the ocean breezes can get nippy.
