This district derives its name from Wilshire Boulevard, the large east-west thoroughfare that runs through the area. Wilshire today is diverse both ethnically and economically, with many races and backgrounds represented in its population. Traditional city neighborhoods display some of Los Angeles' most inspiring residential architecture, and are fun to stroll through on a sunny day. Wilshire Park, one of the neighborhoods located within the district, showcases numerous styles of architecture including Mediterranean, Spanish Colonial, Traditional, and Colonial Revival.
