Spanish evening restaurant |
16 Rue St-Georges Lyon 69005 France +33 4 7837 9911 |
This Spanish restaurant has taken Old Lyon by storm, and considering the crowd that has followed it here, it is not likely to stop. You would be advised to make a reservation to stand any chance of dining here. The decor is typically Spanish with painted tiles, flamenco, and bullfights, and the atmosphere is the perfect accompaniment for your favorite meal: tapas, Grilled Calamari, gazpacho or paella (must be ordered in advance). It is like Andalusia in the middle of Lyon's night life. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic restaurant |
7 Rue Chavannes Lyon 69001 France +33 4 7830 9192 |
L'Anticipation is a comfortable restaurant for lovers of gourmet food. The menu is made up of products found in the local markets, so it is highly dependant on the season and, naturally, the inspiration of the owner. However, the three things that never change are the bread, which is baked on site, the quality of the preparation of the food and the warm welcome. You are strongly advised to book in advance. You will understand why after tasting the food: Crayfish and Red Mullet Ravioli with a cider court-bouillon sauce is a favorite. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Institutional brasserie |
30 Cours de Verdun Lyon 69002 France +33 4 72 56 5454 |
The Brasserie Georges has been a monument of Lyonnaise gastronomy since 1836. The building alone is worth the visit—it is designed in art deco style and up to 650 people can be seated under the majestic ceiling, which has lustrous frescos. The menu remains purely traditional with sauerkrauts, seafood and fish, and some Lyonnaise specialties. Everything is served with a drink, of course. Any journey to Lyon must include a visit to Georges'. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lyonnaise bouchon at reasonable prices |
5 Rue des Marronniers Lyon 69002 France +33 4 7837 8127 |
The peninsula is crammed full of bouchons and other Lyonnaise restaurants, so why is it that this one has been so successful for such a long time? The answer is simple, they have mastered the perfect blend of a friendly welcome, reasonable prices and good quality food. It is that simple. Therefore, the menu is full of Lyonnaise specialties like Pike Quenelle and the ingredients are always fresh. Review © 2007, Wcities |

World famous restaurant |
40 Rue de la Plage Lyon 69660 France +33 4 7242 9090 |
Even though this place is not actually in Lyon, you only have to go 4km north to find one of France's most celebrated restaurants. The surroundings are bourgeois and you definitely have to economize a little to be able to afford a meal in this place. The menu choice is very large, which makes it impossible to list it all: truffle soup, Loup en Croûte with lobster mousse, Rouget Barbet in layers of potato, to name a few. Reservations are required. North India and Pakistan |
28 Rue du Doyenné Lyon 69005 France +33 4 7837 0651 |
The Peshawar has only been open a few years in this very charming setting of Saint Georges, but it has already made a name as one of the great specialists in northern Indian and Pakistan cuisine. Hospitality and good food rule the day, and helpful waitstaff can explain the difference between a murgh curry and a dish cooked according to the Peshawar tradition. The Peshawar does not offer wine, but it does offer Lassi, a drink made from yogurt, with fruit and spices. This drink will ensure that you can fully savour the delights of this spicy cuisine. One of the best gastronomy restaurants |
3 Place Kléber Lyon, Rhone-Alpes France +33 4 7889 5768 |
Located inside a beautiful bourgeois house, this restaurant is one the best in the city. The dishes are delicious, of a fine quality and are accompanied by some wonderful vintages. It is worth noting that during the week most of the customers are business people. On their plates you will see Roasted Pikeperch in wine sediments, Foie Gras Ravioli in port and truffle sauce, or Thrice Baked Foie Gras of the moors. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Medieval cuisine restaurant |
12 Rue du Major-Martin Lyon 69001 France |
This wonderful restaurant beckons you to experience a voyage through time. Everything here is reminiscent of the Middle Ages, from the décor to the behaviour of the master of the house, to the recipes, which are taken from 12th-15th century manuscripts. You may be surprised by the flavour of the food, including Oeufs Perdus (beef with coriander and cumin), all flavoured with a surprising flower and plant wine. Review © 2007, Wcities |
