There's an old-fashioned air about this traditional-style hotel. The bedrooms are decorated with dark wooden furniture, the floors are carpeted and the colours are sober. The staff are both formal and friendly at the same time. It's well situated if you want to spend your time walking around the old town and the historic sights. Even though it's on a pedestrian street with no traffic in between Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía, it's not very peaceful because of all the noisy shoppers heading up and down Calle Preciados.

The Me Madrid, formerly known as the Hotel Reina Victoria, has undergone some serious renovations. Located on the once historic haunt of Spain's most famous matadors for over 60 years, it has taken a 180 degree turn in style. Fashionable and chic decor has replaced the classic Spanish motif of the interior, and elaborate bars and restaurants have been added to ensure a booming social center in this rockin' bubble. The sleek design of the rooms feature contemporary furniture, maxi bars, and spectacular views of the Plaza Santa Ana or Plaza del Angel. If you want to experience a more rowdy side of Spain, this is the place to be.

There are not many places like this in Madrid. Your stay will be an exclusive and exceptional experience. It's a converted palace in the heart of the historic city centre, just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace. It dates from 1850 and belonged to the Dukes of Granada de Ega. Fortunately, the building's original structure has been maintained and you can enjoy features like the arcaded interior courtyard, the stone-flagged floors and the wrought-iron work on its balconies. As you would expect, the bedrooms are spacious and elegantly furnished in an old-fashioned style. The hotel bar is attractively decorated with lush tropical plants. It's just a short walk from here to Gran V and all its cinemas, theatres, shops, bars and restaurants. Buffet breafast: EUR 12.02
