You'll find this modern Korean restaurant with its attractively Oriental dining room located in a quiet residential neighbourhood south of Retiro Park. Try the house special, which is made of fine strips of Barbecued Beef or the Tempura (fish fried in batter) and one of the salads with a spicy dressing. You're best to drink tea or beer. It's a non-smoking restaurant with excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere.

Bali

Affordable & romantic Indonesian restaurant
San Bernardino 6
Madrid, Madrid 28015
Spain
+34 91 541 9122
An ideal venue for a romantic evening out, you'll find this enchanting Indonesian restaurant just off Gran Vía. The atmospheric candle-lit interior is attractively decorated with Oriental furniture, mirrors and colourful batiks. The house speciality is an unpronounceable rice dish Rijsstafel that comes served on a grill-platter heated from below by candles. Other worthwhile choices from the menu are chicken satay with peanut sauce and the special rice sampler platter for two. The prices are very reasonable.

Shila

Pioneering Korean grill
Calle de Panamá 4
Madrid, Madrid 28036
Spain
+34 91 457 8833
You will find this Korean restaurant located in basement premises in the heart of the business district, close to Paseo de la Castellana. It is a welcome addition to the capital's restaurant scene, as it brings more variety to the somewhat limited range of ethnic cuisines available. It was the first to offer dishes like Jelly Fish with Vegetables or Bulgoki Beef, for example. Grilled meats are the speciality and you can see them being cooked in the open-plan kitchen. If you can't make up your mind from the choices on the menu, try the special sampler meal for EUR15.02.

Sulú

Filipino and Japanese cuisines
Paseo de la Castellana, 172
Madrid, Madrid 28046
Spain
+34 91 359 1040
Make a special request, when you book in advance for a Teppanyaki Grill at your table, if you want to be entertained and learn about Japanese cooking at the same time as you eat. The chef will then come and cook thin slices of beef or chunks of lobster right in front of your eyes. The kitchen prepares excellent sushi and sashimi in addition to its range of delicious Filipino dishes (the owners are from the Philippine Islands). Try the speciality - Misono. If you can't decide, order one of the sample menus and you'll get a taste of the best on offer. You may as well stick to Japanese beer for drink. It's a spacious restaurant decorated in simple Oriental style that's been in business for 25 years.

Teppanyaki Furama

Try a Different Asian Cuisine!
Paseo de la Florida 2
Madrid 28008
Spain
+34 91 548 76 58
A different concept of Asian restaurants was born in Madrid, in 2005. This restaurant offers Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese dishes, like sushi, tempura, sashimi, dim-sum or ox brochette with soy sauce… But that's not all, as the chef, close to your table, wearing the typical samurai dress, cooks every dish. That's what they call a "teppanyaki table". Its decoration, based on colors red and black, will make you feel as if you are not in Madrid. Buda figures and vegetation create a warm atmosphere. Good price/quality relation. Several menus are offered but you can also taste any "a la carte" dish. -Angeles Fernandez

Tokyo Taro

Authentic Japanese and....genuine
Calle de la Flor Baja 5
Madrid 28013
Spain
+34 91 5423528
This is where Japanese fare is eaten by the people of Madrid, in the neighborhood of Gran Vía, a great escape with the family. It is here, where exceptional sushi and tempura are served. The service is very efficient and, if you go to the bar, you will be delighted with the uncanny ability of the cooks.
