Calle Henri Dunant, 23 Madrid, Madrid 28036 Spain +34 91 359 1842 |
Andrés Madrigal is the highly respected chef that runs this kitchen. The food critics rave about his unique versions of standard Mediterranean dishes that require the freshest ingredients in season. His specialities are fish and fresh vegetables in general, and cod with tripe and wild mushrooms in particular. The sampler menu makes the decisions for you and costs EUR29 per person. The two dining spaces are decorated in warm and welcoming colours with minimal decor, just a few paintings and the odd mirror. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alfredo, a New Yorker living in Madrid, opened his restaurant back in the early 1980s. Since that time, Alfredo’s Restaurant is proud to prepare the original American hamburger. Succulent Buffalo Wings with an excellent barbecue sauce, cabbage salad, or the marvelous Brooklyn hamburger will make you feel as if you were in the United States. This is an ideal place to go with your friends. Don’t forget to make a reservation, as the dining room tends to fill up quickly. -Angeles Fernandez Review © 2007, Wcities |

Indulge |

If you've been to the Catalan outlet of the La Finca de Susana group, then you know what to expect when you're heading here. The only difference you'll find is that Bazaar is more spacious and brighter. The interiors are done up in hues of white and cream. The ambience is casual and the wait staff, highly efficient and amicable. The menu offers a combination of Mediterranean and Pan Asian delicacies. A word of caution-the desserts can get a bit too rich and sinfully indulgent. The Chocolatissimo is highly recommended. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The versatile premises are conducive to have breakfast, enjoy an appetizer, or to simply enjoy a glass of wine. The decoration calls for attention because of the combination of antiquities: collections of clocks, Bohemian crystal lamps and marble floors. The restaurant has different themes and many people frequent it. The food is Mediterranean, with specialties like Ostrich medallions, carpaccio, rice and salad of avocados, mango and fresh cheese. Other dishes that you can try are Ox Carpaccio and fish or sirloin with compote of apple and garlic. They have good desserts, like Apple Cake or sherbets. Popular with tourists, El Viajero's walls are adorned with souvenirs from around the world. All of three storeys, the restaurant offers a range of eats, and the rooftop bar many drinks. Sausages, kebabs and other Rastro market meats are grilled here too. Set menus are a huge draw and very reasonably priced. Patio seating is available in summer. Come early to avoid the perennial crowds. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Abraham García has been one of the star chefs in Madrid kitchens since the early 1990s and he's had time to develop his own unique style. It's now available here, where he adds exotic touches to traditional Spanish recipes to produce dishes like Smoked Goose Liver, Calamares al Martini (squid with Martini sauce), Rape en Salsa de Cava y Almendras (monkfish in sparkling wine and almond sauce) and Solomillo a las Trufas (sirloin with truffles). Try the Grapefruit Sorbet for dessert. There's an extensive wine list to choose from, the service is good and the dining room is attractively decorated with photos from Luis Buñuel´s movies.
