Al-Mounia

Elegant Moroccan restaurant & tea parlour
Calle Recoleto 5
Madrid, Madrid 28001
Spain
+34 91 435 0828
An ideal place to enjoy Cous Cous, Tagine or the house speciality - Meshoui (barbecued lamb). The interior is typically elegant and refined; you'll dine on low, round tables under a ceiling that features Arabic figures in relief and you'll hear North African music in the background. Here, and in the atmospheric tearoom next door, the service is reverential. Valet parking.

Cluny

Japanese recipes French-style
Calle del Prado 15
Madrid, Madrid 28014
Spain
+34 91 429 2838
A stylish French restaurant that serves Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. Some of the Japanese dishes are especially good. It's a nice place to come just for a drink and a snack before a meal and if you come in mid-afternoon you'll find it transformed into a tearoom. The house specialities are duck and rice dishes. Try something exotic from the menu, like goose's neck stuffed with foie, baby squid salad with miso dressing or tuna, salmon and sea bass Aokoso. Amongst the homemade desserts, the fig cake is unbeatable. The interior is decorated in attractive earth, orange and black tones.

Salón del Prado

Like a film set
Prado, 4
Madrid, Madrid 28014
Spain
+34 91 429 3361
A stylish and elegant cafe that opened in 1984 although you would think it dated from the early 20th century as it has been decorated in Edwardian style with huge mirrors, a grand piano and impressive candelabras. It's often used as a location for filming movies and TV commercials. Every month a different sculptor exhibits his or her work in the main hall and in the five enormous windows so that they can be seen from the street as well. You can choose from a worldwide selection of coffees and teas along with a selection of cold Canapes.
