Great snorkeling & diving |
off South Shore Maui and Molokai, HI 96748 United States |
This is one of Molokai's main attractions, located off the southern shore of Molokai. Measuring 28 miles from tip to toe, it is Hawaii's only barrier reef. There are two ways to see this reef: from a distance or up close and personal. To do the first, it's necessary to climb up a hill (possibly in the Kamakou Preserve or Kamiloloa Heights) and look down at the ocean. You can't miss it. An even better way is to take a snorkel or dive tour, like those offered by Molokai Fish & Dive and head out to sea. The snorkeling and diving along the reef are ranked among the best in the world. This is one of the few snorkel charters that guarantees a turtle sighting. So if you want to see a sea turtle up close and personal, do not miss the boat. Actually, the "boat" is a 20-foot raft with twin outboard motors. A total of 13 passengers and two crew members can fit, but the company never books more than 10 passengers per excursion. This is one of the most entertaining ways to tour offshore Maui waters. "Noodles" (long, rubber floating toys) and underwater cameras are available. Three daytime snorkel excursions and one sunset cruise are offered daily. Call for pricing or more information. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Looking for a place to take the kids for some good, old-fashioned, no-brains-required fun? On a rainy day, there is no place better than here. This arcade seems to attract a bit younger of a crowd than its sister location at Ka'ahumanu. Indeed, many of the customers are under parental supervision, making for a much more pleasant atmosphere. The Wike-Wahine, this company's proud vessel, is a polyurethane raft that seats approximately 24 people. She is a fast and streamlined vessel, powered by duel high-speed engines. A whalewatching or snorkel tour aboard this raft is like a combination whitewater excursion and eco-tour. Each passenger has a panoramic view of the open sea. There is always at least one marine biologist on board. Call for rates and reservations. This is a popular attraction, so book ahead of time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

If you are looking for a low-cost, no-frills course, this is the best option on Maui. It is located in a residential part of Maui, on a windy strip of isolated beach. The greens are landscaped with ironwood trees and kiawe forests. Half of the course was constructed in the 20s, while architecture on the second half was completed nearly 40 years later. It is staffed by a team of dedicated locals and PGA professionals. The daily greens fees range from $26-30. Call for reservations. Review © 2007, Wcities |
