Apocalypse is very popular, particularly late at night and on weekends. While most orthadiko (stand up bars) are powered by DJ-driven music, Evan Dion, the owner here has folkloric groups performing on Sundays. Apocalypse is a spacious upstairs room overlooking Lonsdale Street's treetops. Behind the bar a larger than life Johnny Walker sign is flanked by twin, ceiling high water tanks full of liqueur bottles bobbing in electric blue water. Two ceramic Atlas statues observe Melbourne's young Greeks, ouzo in hand, grooving to the modern Greek music. No food is served as the focus is on music, dancing and drinking.
