Despite its name, this is not a hotel, but a bar/band venue, and a chic spot to relax in. With blasted brick walls, modernist white furniture and café like footpath umbrellas, the Evelyn draws a sophisticated crowd who wants to relax in a casual, but still classy, setting. Monday is Polyester, with one of Melbourne's top funk/soul/Latin DJs, Takse, on the decks, while Tuesdays see regular live funk bands. The Evelyn also hosts Australian touring acts like the Underground Lovers or Kirsty Stegwazi. There is also a cloakroom, band room, small dance floor and a bottle shop. Review © 2009, Wcities |
