This gourmet food shop is located in the heart of the original Italian immigrant area of Melbourne. Although most of the migrants have moved on, Lygon Street remains the Italian restaurant and café centre of the city. And, in keeping with this tradition, Lygon Food Store's window lures the passing shoppers with its delectable display of an open Italian cookbook amongst whole cheeses, pasta and rice. As well as being cheese specialists, Lygon Food Store serves up a selection of delicious Italian snacks, and stocks some impressive-looking pasta machines, coffee making equipment, and accessories.
