Dine in the Caribbean |
2830 North Germantown Parkway (at Highway 64) Memphis, TN 38138 United States +1 901 385 8744 |
West Indies-style ribs, jerk chicken and Jamaican grilled chicken wings are intensely flavorful at this island-themed restaurant. The paella and the Jerk Chicken Pizza are less authentic but just as well done. One of the best and most popular dishes is the Yucatan-Style Pan-Seared Mahi Mahi in a sour cream sauce. There is a little Asian fusion influence, too, in the seared tuna with soy-sesame dressing. Appetizers run $4.50-7.95, while entrees go for $8.95-17.95.The décor has a Caribbean theme—palm trees and all. You are likely to have a 30-45 minute wait for your table, but you can spend that time listening to reggae music and sipping a frozen drink at the lovely outside bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Smoker-friendly, open 24 hours |
4750 Navy Road Memphis, TN 38053 United States +1 901 872 7616 |
Millington's only 24 hour restaurant. Come by after a late ball game or night racing at the Memphis Motorsports Park. There is plenty of diner-style fare, such as hamburgers, fries, grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken-fried steak with gravy. And breakfasts that include hash browns and grits are served anytime. The eatery also does a brisk business as a doughnut shop. A lot of locals hang out here and chat over coffee. But, do not come here if you are allergic to smoke. This smoker's enclave does not have a no-smoking section. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wine tastings and vineyard |
9050 Macon Road (off North Germantown Parkway) Memphis, TN 38018 United States +1 901 754 3442 |
You might think of barbecue, not fine wine, when you think of Memphis; however, the Cordova Cellars vineyard might change your mind. At this gently rolling site east of the city, you can take guided tours through the wine-making process, participate in wine tastings, increase your connoisseurship with a lecture or listen to a live concert in the spring. The shop sells the local wine as well as various paraphernalia, including unique corkscrews, wine coolers and snacks to accompany your bottle of Chardonnay. Admission is free. Micro-brewery and steaks |
7065 Winchester Road Memphis, TN 38125 United States +1 901 752 1330 |
This microbrewery offers a fine selection of beers, but the real standout here is the food. The steaks are top-notch, the oversized salads are crisp, fresh and not watery, and the homemade bleu cheese dressing is among the best in town. The wait staff is friendly, although service may be a bit slow during busy dinner times. If you're not hungry, the bar is still a nice place to stop for a beer after work. Park your car along the side of the building. There is plenty of free parking, and the entrance is on the side. Review © 2007, Wcities |
