Bella Notte

For all kinds of requirements
2172 Young Avenue
(Between South Cox and South Cooper)
Memphis, TN 38104
United States
+1 901 726 4131
This little shop has an eclectic assortment of goods, from wishing boxes to fancy gifts items for your pet, but the best buy here is fine, often handcrafted baby items. You will find soft, chenille baby blankets, silk crib sheets for the tender-skinned baby, bibs and an assortment of clothes for the baby with great fashion sense! The emphasis, made clear in the name Bella Notte, is on goods crafted in Italy, so the leather goods are also of the highest quality.

China Town Imports

Everything Chinese from clothes to furniture
1971 Union Avenue
Memphis, TN 38104
United States
+1 901 726 4272
Memphis does not have a China Town section of the city, but all the imported items one would expect to find in that area are available at this shop. In fact, the inventory fills two renovated old homes converted into businesses. The retail store at 1971 Union Ave is filled with figurines, carvings, jewelry and Chinese clothing. Incense, teas, paper lanterns and a multitude of other items fill the shelves. A store for larger items is located next door at 1975 Union Avenue. This has traditional Chinese furniture, silk screens, planters and fish bowls.

Goldsmith's Department Store

Upscale department store
4545 Poplar Avenue
(Oak Court Mall)
Memphis, TN 38117
United States
+1 901 766 4199
Started by a trader when the city was just a crossing point on the Mississippi River, Macy's is a Memphis tradition. It is now owned by one of the larger chains, but it continues in its role as Memphis' most upscale department store. The mall has a particularly good furniture and housewares section, with a comprehensive selection of fine rugs. All of Memphis turns out for Macy's One Day Sales. Stop by the cosmetics department for a consultation, or visit the beauty salon within the store.

Sometimes it is difficult to tell if this shop is a clothing store or an art gallery. The silk dresses, blouses, and scarves are all hand painted by well-known textile artists. Other items are made of hand-woven fabrics, with one-of-a-kind designs woven in. The jewelry selection also features unique designs, some fantastic, other sleek and minimalist. The varied collection of clothing and accessories is both stylish and sophisticated, giving you the ability to find a look that is just for you.

Woman's Exchange of Memphis

Nonprofit organization serves great lunches
88 Racine St
(Between Poplar Ave and Walnut Grove)
Memphis, TN 38111
United States

Other chapters around the country sell cottage craft goods made by people who must work from home because of disability or other reasons. The Memphis organization does too, but also runs a successful tearoom that serves lunch on weekdays. A selection of three main courses is offered: classics such as salmon loaf, juicy beef tenderloin, or a vegetable plate. The $8 price includes a small green salad, choice of iced tea or coffee and the day's dessert. Set in a charming house in Midtown, no fancy decor here, but you feel like you're a guest in someone's (large) dining room.
