This is beachfront dining with a tropical theme. The café menu features island-inspired lunch and dinner entrees as well as average American fare (sandwiches, pizzas, and bar appetizers). The waitstaff is definitely an attraction, sporting skin-tight, leopard-print uniforms. The occasional group dance routine keeps things interesting for diners and passers-by alike. Things really heat up around 9p, when a live band plays upbeat Latin music. It can be hard to maneuver past the businessmen and tourists who come here to down shots and ogle the dancers, so come early. Review © 2007, Wcities |

There's always something interesting going on at Miami's latest nightlife venue. Formerly a 1930's pawn shop, this bar/lounge bills itself as Miami's first boutique nightclub. The decor is ever-changing and inspired by post-modern art. Taking Warhol's example to heart, the nightclub has used every day items such as dentist chairs, a school bus, and an airstream trailer in new and inventive ways. One of the best examples of this is an original 727 fuselage anchoring a "mile-high-club" area with 70's style airplane seats. The music policy is eclectic, ranging from rock to house. Live performances are also frequent. Opening night at the lounge featured Paris Hilton performing karaoke...proof that you never know what to expect when you walk into the Pawn Shop. This South Beach restaurant offers sushi and Thai food in a unique atmosphere. International musicians play music nightly. You might hear sitar music one night, reggae the next. The specialty of the house is the fresh and delicious sushi. Thai Salad, which features generous portions of vegetables, is also a good choice, as are the chicken entrees. Portions are large. Beverages include international coffees, teas, wines, and beers. In the evening, you can sit at outdoor tables as musicians perform on the nearby stage. Review © 2007, Wcities |
