Have you heard that the Bakelite bracelets you threw away after high school are now worth hundreds of dollars? This weekend event held each January offers the ideal opportunity to replace them. This is the only festival of its kind to focus on architecture, but it nevertheless brings together an impressive list of collectors of everything art deco, from vintage clothing to 1940s clock radios and Depression-era furniture. The Lowe Art Museum not only houses an extensive art collection, but it also serves as a learning facility. Back in 1953, a group of professional women known as the Beaux Arts decided to add the learning component by constructing an educational wing for art classes. Today, the Lowe Art Museum hosts an annual fundraising event featuring works by 250 artists, food, entertainment and art classes for children. Admission is free.

Many water color painters, art patrons, teachers and those who paint as a hobby, make-up The Miami Watercolor Society Inc (MWS). A non-profit organization, it was founded in 1974 by Peter Drew for painters who explored the watercolor medium. The original charter supported a membership of 66 artists, which has grown dramatically since then. Workshops and art exhibitions to encourage painters are organised on a regular basis.
