Light snacks and people watching |
9700 Collins Avenue (97th Street) Bal Harbour Shops Miami, FL 33154 United States +1 305 861 4544 http://www.balharbourshops.com/ |
This casually elegant bistro is located in the middle of the very high-end Bal Harbour Shops. Originally a quaint place for ladies to have a pastry and coffee, the menu has been greatly expanded to include salads, sandwiches and various entrees. The menu ranges from the mundane to the exotic including Filet of Salmon and Seared Scallops. For a quick bite, however, go in for the sandwiches - they truly are delicious. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Upscale dining on Claughton Island |
601 Brickell Key Drive Miami, FL 33131 United States +1 305 577 0907 |
Take a trip to Claughton Island for an evening out and make this neighborhood brasserie your dining destination. It is popular amongst the pre-theatre/pre-sports events crowd. Pasta dishes make delicious entrees, but make sure to save room for dessert. Giant bon bons may prove irresistible. Try Linguine with White Clam Sauce or Agnolotti Alegria (stuffed with ricotta). French onion soup is a fabulous starter. The crowds are biggest in the earlier hours (6p-8p). The brasserie is fairly upscale, so you may not want to wear your scruffiest clothes. Paris bistro, Miami style |
2415 Ponce de Leon Boulevard Miami, FL 33134 United States +1 305 461 1099 http://www.leshalles.net/ |
This is a French restaurant that is serious about French food and culture; they go all out for Bastille Day, with special menus, games, and activities. February is "Choucroute" month. The menu even offers "Amuse-gueules," a casual way of saying "appetizers." Everything you would expect from a Parisian bistro is here including Steak au Poivre, Salade Niçoise, and Confit de Canard, all for around USD15-25. The atmosphere too, is left-bank casual. A little bit of everything |
1360 Collins Avenue Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 535 8247 |
At first glance, it is hard to tell whether this cozy little cafe is primarily French, Italian or American. Guests may choose to dine on the patio, which allows for a great view of the Miami Beach crowd. Although you may prefer lasagna or escargot, the restaurant also serves a number of excellent salads. Cafe Des Arts also serves both French (croissants and coffee) and American breakfasts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

French soul food |
7310 Red Road Miami, FL 33155 United States +1 305 665 3322 |
Whether intentionally or not, the owners seem to have patterned their cafe after the charming cafe in travel writer Peter Mayle's book Hotel Pastis. Picturesque and charming, it brings a bit of southern France into southern Florida. The service is extremely friendly and helpful.Recommended dishes include steamed mussels for $12.95, rack of lamb for $18.50, and duck breast in black currant sauce for $14.50. Other bistro classics, such as onion soup and escargot are also served. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cozy bistro, generous portions |
227 13th Street Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 672 8169 |
You will not get a whole lot of attitude at this cozy little neighborhood bistro, a welcome change from the general SoBe scene. French favorites, in unusually generous portions, make up the bill of fare. Salads are enough for an entire meal, as are the omelets. Steaks are delicious. The early bird special is a prix fixe menu for only USD9.95 (5p-8p), while the most expensive prix fixe (with wine) is USD20.95. The breakfasts here are some of the most inventive in town. Comfortable, unpretentious decor draws a mellow local crowd. Review © 2007, Wcities |

In the classic style of a quaint French bistro, this popular little restaurant offers great food at low prices. It has received shining reviews from the New York Times, the Miami Herald, and the Food TV network, not to mention from scores of pleased diners. The best deal on the menu is the USD16 prix-fixe menu. For this low price, diners choose between three superb entrees: chicken, steak, or salmon. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great news for all those residing in, or visiting Bal Harbour—La Goulue Bal Harbor is here to delight all patrons. Make a trip to this French style brasserie, serving up typically bistro fare. The interiors have a 1900's Parisian feel of to it. You can also choose to dine alfresco. The chef dishes out fresh seafood and other French delicacies. Feast on the likes of calamars a la plancha, onglet aux cchalottes and for dessert go for the chocolate souffle and pistachio anglasie. Mmmm...does that sound yummy or what! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Creative American cuisine |
1629 Michigan Avenue Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 673 0690 |
At Jeffrey's you will find classic cooking with a minimal amount of grease and fillers. The environment is semi-casual; not a diner by any means, but not formal either. Menu items tend to be simple but wellprepared. Onion soup au gratin is a great starter. Follow it with chicken marinated in balsamic vinegar. Desserts are all homemade. Do not plan on wearing your beach clothes. The atmosphere is relaxed but not sloppy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Authentic French dining |
710 Washington Ave Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 532 8455 |
This quaint French bistro in the heart of Miami Beach attracts a young, primarily European crowd. Aside from the ambiance (distinctly French sidewalk cafe), the menu is the same you would find in any small bistro in France. Sandwiches such as dry sausage and butter or Swiss cheese and Brie cost approximately USD5. Plats du jour are featured at lunch, while dinner is a la carte. Salads range from USD4-8, while entrees cost between USD7-16. One may choose between fish, chicken, or meat dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Deli sandwiches and soups |
128 North Krome Avenue Miami, FL 33030 United States +1 305 245 7575 http://www.mainstreetcafe.net/ |
Main Street Cafe serves deli sandwiches, soups, vegan sandwiches, and Caribbean specialties in a downtown Homestead location. The sandwiches and specialty items are very good, but the locals come for the soup - it's that good. The soups are ladled from a 'soup bar' at the rear of the restaurant; the options change daily and range from traditional to inventive and daring. Specialty items include Conch Salad, Chicken Potpie, Smoked Mahi and pizza. Ceiling fans and a glass storefront give the café a traditional delicatessen feel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located in Miami's Design District, close to Downtown, Michael's Genuine Food & Drink is a modern, enjoyable Bistro, offering an assortment of small, medium and large plates, as well as specialties from their wood-fired oven, making use of local, organic ingredients. Try the Wood Roasted Vidalia Onion stuffed with ground lamb and apricots, or the Crispy Hominy with chili and lime. The warm, friendly atmosphere has made this restaurant a favorite among Miami natives and tourists alike. Although leaning more towards the expensive side for dinner, the menu makes it easy to find a great meal at a great price. Try lunch if you want to experience this restaurant on more of a budget. Reservations available online or over the phone. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sublime Vietnamese |
146 Giralda Avenue Miami, FL 33134 United States +1 305 446 8006 |
Spectacular food and warm, personable service make this tiny, family-owned Vietnamese restaurant a Coral Gables jewel. Authentic Vietnamese decoration matches the aodia (brightly-colored long dresses) worn by the wait staff. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. Start out with a seafood noodle soup, adjusted to your preference of spiciness. Main courses include caramelized prawns and lemongrass crispy fish. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming. Of course, you may hear tunes from the restaurant's namesake Andrew Lloyd Webber musical every once in a while, but that only adds to Miss Saigon's charm. Review © 2007, Wcities |
