Authentic Americana |
1065 Washington Avenue Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 534 6373 |
For a healthy dose of Golden Oldies ambience, visit this South Beach favorite. You will feel like you have been transported 40 years back in time. For 48 years the diner was actually located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. In 1992 it was dismantled and transported to Miami Beach, where it received an enthusiastic reception. In addition to diner staples like burgers, fries, and great milkshakes, the restaurant serves a variety of salads, cold sandwiches, chicken and pasta dishes. Plates cost between USD3-USD11. Fresh seafood and pasta |
14424 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33181 United States +1 305 919 9962 |
Do not expect to find the average greasy diner when you walk into Andre's. The food here is very good, with service and prices to match. This is a cozy spot for a meal, a glass of wine, and some good company. Rather than the usual "hamburgers and fries" fare, the specials of the day are the kind of well-prepared cuts of meat (chicken, beef, veal) you might expect from an upscale Italian trattoria. Most seafood dishes are perfectly cooked and served over pasta. Expect to spend under USD20 per person. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Everyone seems to know and love this funky South Beach diner. After a day at the beach or a night at the clubs, visit this spot for some good coffee in a friendly atmosphere. Try a wrap, a gourmet pizza or if you are too tired to get picky, grab a cheeseburger and fries. If you are really in the mood to indulge, order the polenta fries, but beware, you may not be able to stop eating them. The efficient staff will even deliver your meal to your hotel room. Displaying all the trappings of a Jewish deli, and then some, Katz Deli is heaven for anyone in search of a reuben sandwich or a cheese blintz. Prices run between USD7-15. The interior of the restaurant is furnished with display cases (polished to a shine) and cushy booths. Deli sandwiches and soups |
128 North Krome Avenue Miami, FL 33030 United States +1 305 245 7575 http://www.mainstreetcafe.net/ |
Main Street Cafe serves deli sandwiches, soups, vegan sandwiches, and Caribbean specialties in a downtown Homestead location. The sandwiches and specialty items are very good, but the locals come for the soup - it's that good. The soups are ladled from a 'soup bar' at the rear of the restaurant; the options change daily and range from traditional to inventive and daring. Specialty items include Conch Salad, Chicken Potpie, Smoked Mahi and pizza. Ceiling fans and a glass storefront give the café a traditional delicatessen feel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

New York state of mind |
9017 Southwest 107th Avenue The Kendall Mall Miami, FL 33176 United States +1 305 595 8000 |
The flavorful dishes, prepared to perfection, will linger on in your memory as well. Served in generous portions, menu dishes ($5.95-$14.95) vary from pasta, chicken and steak to deli sandwiches to an all-you-can-eat salad bar ($7.95-$8.95). Daily lunch specials are also available. "New York, New York" is the theme, and they do it up royally. Locals, transplanted New Yorkers, and visitors flock here for leisurely meals at booths named for NYC boroughs and streets. It is almost as busy as Grand Central Station. Review © 2007, Wcities |

One of a kind |
4000 Red Road, 57th Avenue SW Miami, FL 33155 United States +1 305 448 1240 |
After years of operating in the middle of a drugstore, Picnics has moved a few blocks down the road. Operating under new ownership has not taken anything away from this homey diner's 50s retro décor: an old jukebox and a Chevy BelAir painted on one wall. The friendly waitresses and the classic diner fare are still attracting customers. Breakfast is hearty and served all day; sandwiches are made with home-roasted meats. Specials include meatloaf, fresh-roasted turkey and spaghetti and meatballs. Frosty shakes, malts, egg creams and root-beer floats are still prepared the old-fashioned way. Desserts are seasonal fruit pies with the ubiquitous Key lime pie included. It feels like going to eat at your grandmother's home. This is a true original in a copycat world. -Mercedes de Marchena Review © 2007, Wcities |
