Aura Restaurant

Main course: people-watching
613 Lincoln Road
Miami, FL 33139-2915
United States
+1 305 695 1100
This addition to Lincoln Road's array of restaurants was designed by Morris Lapidus of Fontainebleau Hilton fame. The appetizers are excellent. Entrees include pasta, seafood, and meat dishes. Desserts come in portions generous enough to share. There is a full bar. Despite a handsome bar and a bustling dining room accented by rich cherry wood, mirrors, and large, multicolored amoebas on the walls, patrons still prefer the al fresco dining outside.

A dining experience here will make any evening a memorable one.

Mark's South Beach menu varies daily and features a large selection of imported wines and cheeses; dinner options include such temptations as Tenderloin of Beef stuffed with roasted garlic and served with polenta and root vegetables, and Black Grouper wrapped in ham and zucchini. Some complain that the portions are too small, but hey, models eat here, so what do you want? The front bar serves the largest and perhaps tastiest martinis on South Beach. The restaurant seats 145 and features dark wood floors and furniture with large-checked wallpaper.

Michy's

Chic dining spot
6927 Biscayne Boulevard
Miami, FL 33138
United States
+1 305 759 2001
Entrepreneur Michelle Bernstein goes solo on this project: a charming 60 seat restaurant in the city. Vibrant colors greet guests, while white furnishings and rich chandeliers dispel any leftover blues. A Mediterranean menu list offers filling dishes with delicate, yet well-defined tastes for the subtle palate. More adventurous fare can be found in the form of a peach-embellished braised duck and wild mushrooms whipped into a handkerchief pasta dish. A stone crab cocktail from the raw bar should accompany any meal well. So, leave your inhibitions behind, put on your formal attire and give the place a shot. Make your reservations early, the joint fills up fast.

Tap Tap

Haitian bohemian
819 Fifth Street
Miami, FL 33139
United States
+1 305 672 2898
This place offers a slice of Caribbean life. Murals on the walls, Haitian music, and authentic Haitian food make this a popular destination for the young, artistic crowd. Meat and fish dishes are grilled over hardwood charcoal for a distinctly different flavor. Try the shrimp cooked in coconut sauce. The house specialty is Stewed Goat, not something for squeamish eaters. Watermelon soda is a creative alternative to the average soft drink. Prices are very reasonable, with most entrees costing between USD8 and USD14.
