Mexican food on the beach |
455 Grand Bay Drive Ritz Carlton, Key Biscayne Miami, FL 33149 United States +1 305 365 4500 (Hotel) http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/... |
Casual chairs under the trees and open sky, lit torches and fire pits and a kitchen under thatched roof describes Cantina Beach. This alfresco restaurant is located at Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne and has a menu that takes its inspiration from seaside Mexican food. Cantina also has on hand a highly trained tequilier—tequila specialist, who recommends which menu to pair with which tequila out of the 85 the restaurant has. Thursdays are special with live music and free drinks on offer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Spicy salsa, fresh guacamole |
5911 Northwest 36th Avenue Miami, FL 33166 United States +1 305 871 2764 http://www.ciscoscafe.com |
The ambiance here may not be particularly authentic, but the food is. Chips and salsa are excellent, with three types of deliciously spicy blends to choose from. Standard Mexican fare is the featured food here including burritos, chimichangas, tacos, tamales, fajitas and the like. The restaurant feels somewhat like a chain, but it is not one. The decor and clientele are both quite casual. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Superbly satisfying |
2091 Coral Way Miami, FL 33145 United States +1 305 856 3451 |
Despite the number of excellent Cuban, Brazilian, and Argentinean restaurants found all over Miami, there is a surprising shortage of truly excellent Mexican food. But Mexican food fans need look no further than this Coral Way eatery. El Fogon offers mouthwatering food in a fairly calm environment (no beer flags or blaring music). The decor is colorful and cheery and the food tastes incredibly fresh. Try the house specialty, Cochinita Pibil (marinated pork), if you are in the mood for something different from tacos and burritos. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Traditional Mexican |
2957 Florida Avenue Miami, FL 33133-5212 United States +1 305 448 9505 |
This is an authentic Mexican restaurant, right down to a tortilla maker imported from Guadalajara. The menu features an extensive list of tacos and enchiladas in a variety of sauces, a choice of excellent soups (Sopa de Tortilla Azteca is good one to try), and several salads. La Gloria is a decided favorite amongst locals, particularly Mexican-born residents seeking a taste of home. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Quesadillas Your Way |
3015 Grand Ave Miami, FL 33133 United States +1 305 443 3999 http://www.mari-nalli.com |
Located on CocoWalk, this new franchise restaurant offers light meals, reasonably priced and delicious. It is all about quesadillas, a delicious Mexican dish that can be a meal in itself. The place serves breakfast, lunch and dinner alternatives and the choices are excellent-from Ranchero's Scramble to American Daybreak. For lunch and dinner there is everything: Jamaica Jerk Chicken, Chicken Beijing, Reuben, Shrimp Margarita. A real global choice! There are also veggie quesadillas and delicious salads. Beverages run the gamut as well, from wine to beer to juices and latte; they thought of everything. Desserts are also international, including cheesecake, panacota, cookies and churros. All are good enough to finish the light, refreshing main course. If you are really interested, they cater too! - Mercedes de Marchena Review © 2007, Wcities |

Burritos on the beach |
1050 Collins Avenue Miami, FL 33139-5012 United States +1 305 674 0038 |
Located in the heart of South Beach, this little eatery is a healthy Americanized version of a taqueria. While the burritos are not authentic, they are healthy and tasty. Due to the central location and the low prices, this place gets a lot of traffic. Burritos, Tamales, Rellenos, and Quesadillas are tasty and cheap (under $5). For an odd variation on the classic, try the Hawaiian burrito: all the normal ingredients plus pineapple. The atmosphere is as casual as can be. Prices are low, and a lot of people opt for takeout or delivery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Garden-fresh salsa |
9739 Northwest 41st Street Miami, FL 33178 United States +1 305 477 5119 http://www.mrsmendoza.com/ |
This modest-looking Mexican spot is one of the best places in Miami for fabulous chips and salsa, not to mention tasty south-of-the-border favorites. Help yourself out of the communal bowls of salsa; you will be glad to go back for more. Super-fresh Mexican favorites are served, including Pork Fajitas and Frijoles. Tostadas are enormous; no matter how hard you try, you probably will not be able to finish one. This is an unassuming little place with a casual local crowd. Another location is on South Beach. Go for the guacamole... |
16265 Biscayne Boulevard Miami, FL 33178 United States +1 305 947 5027 |
The chips and salsa alone make Paquito's a winner. Throw in the guacamole and it is impossible to resist. Colorfully decorated, with an equally colorful array of menu choices, this restaurant pleases the eye and the palate. Try the Mole Verde over chicken or beef, or the Sirloin Steak. For seafood lovers, there are also a variety of delectable options. Of course, a host of the usual favorites (enchiladas, tacos) are readily available. Entrees average USD13. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Los Quijotes has been serving up hearty Spanish specialties in Miami for over twelve years. You will find about forty appetizers to choose from, including Tapas such as Potato Omelets, Octopus, and Fish Salads. The Caldo Gallego is a must as is the flan or the Tres Leches (sweet milk custard) for dessert. Entree options range from Paella and Lamb in Wine Sauce to T-bone Steak and Biscayne Codfish. As is the Spanish tradition, the service is amiable and the atmosphere is always friendly and festive. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mexican on a budget |
131 26th Street Miami, FL 33140 United States +1 305 535 6332 |
Do not try to be too creative at this simple Mexican restaurant; you will be better pleased if you stick with the more standard menu options. The most essential of Mexican staples, fresh chips and salsa, is delicious and fabulously fresh. Tortilla soup and empanadas are deliciously zingy starters. Opt for traditional entrees such as Bean Burritos or Enchiladas. Although the eatery is above taqueria/fast food standards, it is clearly for those on a budget. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Spicy Mexican feast |
1626 Pennsylvania Avenue Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 673 0480 |
El Rancho Grande is a neighborhood favorite, despite its somewhat hidden location on a South Beach side street. You will find it packed just about every night of the week with regulars and newcomers seeking down-home Mexican cookin'. The food is well spiced and flavorful. Try the fajitas (always a hit) or the Black Bean Soup. Entrees are almost all under USD12, you can get a whole meal and still leave with a little money in your pocket. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Stylish Authentic Mexican |
900 South Miami Avenue #161 Miami, FL 33130 United States +1 786 425 1001 http://www.rosamexicano.com |
Adorned with an enormous water wall, Rosa Mexicano is a stylish and fun choice for Mexican food in Miami. If it suits your fancy, start off with a margarita and great guacamole and chips to get things started. Cool atmosphere, good food, and delightful presentation are the names of the game. If you have a sensitive ear, beware the occasional mariachi musicians. But if you love Mexican food, Rosa Mexicano won't disappoint. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Late-night munchies |
235 14th Street Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 538 3009 |
In a place like Miami Beach, there always seems to be crowds of people roaming about late at night. When a late-night snack is sought, this is the place to go. This is a great place to go for fresh, tasty tacos and burritos, in generous portions. Name your choice of meat, hot sauce, and tortilla, and you have a custom-made burrito. Just about everything on the menu costs under USD7, something you will not see at most of the eateries on the beach. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fiesta |
616 Collins Avenue Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 673 5262 http://www.senorfrogsfla.com/ |
This is a lively Mexican restaurant with a menu includes a number of regional favorites, such as Pollo en Mole Verde (chicken in green mole sauce) for USD15, Fajitas (USD17), and Carne Asada (USD17). The prices are a little high for Mexican, with appetizers averaging USD9 and entrees USD15, but customers are paying for the ambience as well as the food. Señor Frog's has excellent drinks (also on the pricey side) that are well worth the cost. The mango margaritas (USD7) are second to none. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Inventive Tex-Mex |
3301 Rickenbacker Causeway Miami, FL 33149 United States +1 305 365 9391 |
If you have been to San Antonio's Alamo Cafe, you may recognize some of the Tex-Mex recipes served at SouthFork. You will find a variety of traditional Tex-Mex dishes on the menu, along with some more creative offerings: white bean and chicken soup, portobello mushroom burgers and pork ribs. The crowd here is young and casual, and come to enjoy a seat on the outdoor patio while listening to live music. Try to make it for a sunset cocktail. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tequila Sunrise in Coral Gables is the fifth restaurant of its kind, although it is the first in South Florida. Its New York locations have enjoyed tremendous popularity, and the latest location shows every sign of doing the same. This Mexican-inspired restaurant features traditional specialties (tacos, burritos, enchiladas) at slightly higher prices than you will find at an average tacqueria. Tequila Sunrise also offers specialties such as Shrimp with Mojo and international dishes, such as Paella. Review © 2007, Wcities |
