Voulez-vous a coucher? |
929 Washington Ave Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 532 9070 http://www.bedmiami.com |
If you think there is nothing sexier than crumbs in bed, this is the place for you. The menu varies each night with a choice of four appetizers, four main courses and four desserts. Nestled into the walls of the room are platforms covered with giant mattresses and six or eight large pillows, with egg-white chiffon drapery. The wait staff is dressed in elegant, billowy white shirts and flowing white pants. A movie screen shows psychedelic videotronics to the tune of Ravel's Bolero and new age music. High drama in the Gables |
2626 Ponce de Leon Blvd Miami, FL 33134 United States +1 305 448 2626 |
Located in the heart of posh Coral Gables, Claudius reigns supreme with its Nouveau Roman cuisine and its nightly piano bar. A good variety at relatively high prices (entree prices upwards of $20) defines the menu here. Immaculately prepared dishes such as Black Truffle-Wild Mushroom Ravioli in truffle butter, Florentine-style Porterhouse Steak, and Fettuccine with Lobster are standard menu options. You will find a nostalgic, old-world setting, and a courteous staff eager to serve. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Animal print extravaganza |
900 Ocean Drive Miami, FL 33139 United States +1 305 673 4422 http://www.mangostropicalcafe.... |
This is beachfront dining with a tropical theme. The café menu features island-inspired lunch and dinner entrees as well as average American fare (sandwiches, pizzas, and bar appetizers). The waitstaff is definitely an attraction, sporting skin-tight, leopard-print uniforms. The occasional group dance routine keeps things interesting for diners and passers-by alike. Things really heat up around 9p, when a live band plays upbeat Latin music. It can be hard to maneuver past the businessmen and tourists who come here to down shots and ogle the dancers, so come early. Review © 2007, Wcities |

New York state of mind |
9017 Southwest 107th Avenue The Kendall Mall Miami, FL 33176 United States +1 305 595 8000 |
The flavorful dishes, prepared to perfection, will linger on in your memory as well. Served in generous portions, menu dishes ($5.95-$14.95) vary from pasta, chicken and steak to deli sandwiches to an all-you-can-eat salad bar ($7.95-$8.95). Daily lunch specials are also available. "New York, New York" is the theme, and they do it up royally. Locals, transplanted New Yorkers, and visitors flock here for leisurely meals at booths named for NYC boroughs and streets. It is almost as busy as Grand Central Station. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Peanuts anyone? |
7199 Southwest 117th Avenue Miami, FL 33183 United States +1 305 274 4696 |
Roadhouse Grill, a rowdy eatery with a casual, barn-like atmosphere is quite a change of pace. Country music rings through the air, a tin bucket of shelled peanuts stands at every table, and patrons are not expected to keep their surroundings tidy at all. So let those shells fall where they may. As for the food (from USD5.95), fresh and flavorful are two words that immediately come to mind. At USD7.95, the grilled chicken (sandwich or platter) is a standout. This is an enjoyable outing for "kids of all ages." Review © 2007, Wcities |

American diner |
9501 Harding Avenue Miami, FL 33154 United States +1 305 866 0342 |
Step back in time to the days when a drugstore offered its customers food and soda fountain counter services at Sheldon's, which offers old-fashioned breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections at low prices. Dine on eggs, soups, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. Check for daily specials. This historic drugstore's décor is simple and functional, yet comfortable. The restaurant offers a refreshing change from the trendy dining scene. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant Tea & Superb Food |
119 Madeira Avenue Miami, FL 33134 United States +1 305 774 0228 http://www.theineteasalon.com |
This small and very cozy place is worth a visit, even if you are not into tea. If you are, then it is a rare treat. The selection is outstanding and the owner keeps an eye out for new blends from around the world. She is also a fantastic chef who uses local products to create an eclectic variety of dishes. Salads and soups are especially good, main entrees are creative and light, but the desserts are the best: from fresh fruit tarts, bread puddings, light chocolate cakes, to creamy puddings and flans. There are also proper English high tea services on Thursdays and Saturdays, complete with scones, clotted cream and jam, finger sandwiches, and cakes. Reservations are essential. - Mercedes de Marchena Review © 2007, Wcities |
