If you have a slow-paced, casual outing in mind, try Biscayne National Park's three-hour boat tour to the 32-acre island named Boca Chica Key. A glass-bottom boat transports adventure seekers to the site recently listed on The National Register of Historic Places. On the island, once owned by the Honeywell family, you will find structures built in the 1930s, coral-rock walls, and a charming 65-foot coral-rock lighthouse. Tours are offered from January to April, $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children under 10 (prices exclude tax). Call for reservations and further information.

They host open air concerts, historical home tours, riverboat runs, car shows, archeology fairs, lectures, walks, flora & fauna shows. This North Dade park has come a long way from its origins as a rock pit. These days, it offers nature trails, a fun-filled playground for the kids, fishing out of a rock quarry, picnicking, bird-watching, and the Greynolds Golf Course as well. Those who would like to get back to nature and learn more about the area's history, flora, and fauna can take a guided tour on Saturdays.

Located adjacent to Government Cut, this attractive marina features a variety of sporting activities amid a setting of palm trees and stone picnic tables. The marina provides boat slips that offer freshwater, electricity, and telephone and cable hookups. Marina amenities include a control tower with weather service, 24-hour dock attendants, 24-hour security patrol, a lighted parking lot, laundry facilities, U.S. Customs clearing, and a heated swimming pool. Visitors can rent boats, charter yachts, sailboats, and sport and drift-fishing boats to enjoy dining and dance cruises. The marina also provides restaurants, a gourmet grocery store, water taxi service, and a marine hardware, bait, and tackles shop.

Do you want to fly? Not as a passenger in an airplane or even in a hot-air balloon, but fly like a bird? This company offers tandem flights using a method similar to parasailing, with a boat attached to a long rope. Unlike parasailing, at altitudes of 1,000 feet or more, the rope is released and free flight begins.

Trains arrive at each station every 5 minutes during peak hours and every 20-30 minutes during off-peak hours; end-to-end transit time is 42 minutes. All stations have automobile parking. Fare: $1.25 per person; station parking: $2 (M-F); Free (Sa-Su).
