Visit this store to get a glimpse of what rules the ramps in this fashion city. Exclusive haute-couture comes to life here, and how! This is one of the only two white Cashmere production plants in the world. Garments made of alpaca, camel hair and the precious vicuna can be found here. Needless to say, extremely high price tags mark these carefully-crafted clothes. So, unless you're loaded, window-shopping is a good enough option at this store!

In a shop that could have been designed by Cruella de Ville, this is the place to find the most eccentric clothes in Via della Spiga. Amongst the leather dresses with feather borders, the black lace and the most original prints, there is a chance of finding some more wearable and truly sparkling clothes. There are lovely, seductive evening tops and fun, printed t-shirts. High prices and polite staff.

Alberta Ferretti offers sophisticated yet simple clothes, in a typically Milanese mix, which has a lot of success. Her clothes are basic essentials but also fun because of their stylish and original designs. The shop is spacious with a floor and decor which is more elaborate than the styles of most of the other shops along the famous Via Montenapoleone. This is a welcome change after a series of aseptic and often too similar atmospheres of the other shops.

This stylist has distinctive, sophisticated taste. His first leather collections were distinguished by the print that made every piece, whether it was a suitcase, bag or wallet, similar to an old-fashioned geographical map. There is now a whole collection that can be admired and bought in the elegant shop in Via Montenapoleone. There are elegant clothes for men and women which are mostly sporty chic clothes for a luxurious leisure time. High prices, but high quality clothes with a combination of classic and modern taste. Martini also uses his boutique for photo and art exhibitions.

What can one say about a boutique that carries the name of a modern day myth, more than any other stylist. The furnishings could be said to have a slightly retro feel, compared to the steel and crystal of the other shops in Milan's 'golden triangle', but nonetheless, they are reassuring in this famous shop. Madame Chanel would certainly have approved this shop as worthy of representing her style. They also sell the classic leather stitched bags and the bottles of No.5 stand up well next to the latest and more modern creations of the house.

This large shop is the main branch where people can admire and buy clothes from the premier collection of Giorgio Armani. The typical low-key, discreet interiors, designed in ash wood with pastel beige tones, leaves space for the creations of one of the most famous, if not the most famous Italian stylists. Everything sold here is in tune with the Armani style, from the furnishings and the display to the staff who, a few years ago often had a vague resemblance to Richard Gere in American Gigolo.

They say that in the courtyard of the building in London where the stylist Tom Ford has his headquarters, even the hedges are pruned into a square shape. One thing is certain, the sharp lines made in wood and steel accompanied by classic, luminescent plexiglass panels, are one of the characteristics of this splendid kind of interior architecture often linked to the fashion world. The windows are a veritable bible for the window dressers from all over the world as the clothes and matching accessories are for a multitude of fashion victims. From the beginning of the second half of the 1990's, Gucci has become one of the most successful examples of image restyling of an international fashion house. Another branch can be found at the beginning of Via Montenapoleone towards Corso Matteotti, this is the historic seat of Gucci in Milan. Everything here has also been renovated and corrected according to the new style.

Made originally in leather, it has now evolved and is available in many colors, shapes and materials. Be warned, though, as the shop is always crowded. Try not to visit it during Fashion Week. Versace

Trendy designer
12 Via Gesù
Milan 20121

The Versace shops are instantly recognizable for their characteristic opulence which is also exhibited in their Milanese shops. Two whole buildings in Via Montenapoleone are given over to Versace and are the monuments which the late stylist has left to his legions of adoring clients. This is for anyone who loves a golden, plucky style with neoclassical inspirations.

Yves Saint Laurent

Straight from the Left Bank
8 Via Pietro Verri
Milan, Milan 20121
Italy
+39 (0)2 7600 0573
This is a corner of France in the heart of the Milan fashion square: the Paris house is in direct competition with the great Italian fashion names but the styles are very different. The style is traditional and opulent, sometimes a little retro, for women who do not like to follow the latest trend. The Milan shop offers evening dresses and suits but if you want real haute couture, you have to book a flight to Paris.
