Old toys in the suburbs |
27 Ripa di Porta Ticinese Milan, Milan 20100 Italy +39 2 832 2103 |
Signor Franzini is not just a collector of old objects but an expert on toys and pastimes from the past. In Ripa di Porta Ticinese, he runs a shop where you will find goods of completely different types: tables, chairs, chests of drawers, dumb waiters, but most of all, pre-WW2 toys such as dolls, pinball tables, teddy bears, puppets, board games, Milanese dolls from the '40's and 50's, rocking horses and superb puppet theatres that would make any modern child wild with happiness. These are collector's items and they make lovely presents for those who love old articles. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Entering this shop is a little like moving back in time to the fashions of the past, not just Italian but also American, English and French. Feature of interest: the bijoux here are so high quality and such original forms that they are popular not just with the ladies of Milan, but also with perfectionist stylists. This specialist bookshop takes its name from the lovely hero of a children's tale. 'Favole and fumetti' or 'tales and comics' is its subheading as this shop is mostly dedicated to children, offering them an opportunity to discover the pleasure of reading and love of books. They mostly sell comics and children's books, but there is also a vast choice of art books for older people. Good prices and lovely atmosphere, they also put on exhibitions and shows which are always free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An old Milan toymaker |
17 Via Giuseppe Meda Milan, Milan 20136 Italy +39 2 837 6280 |
A toy shop like this one is a rare sight; the place is very small, tiny windows, and it is difficult to move once inside as you are surrounded by high chairs, footballs and dolls. But il Cucciolo is one of those shops where you feel you have stepped back in time, rediscovering the child in you that will not cease to be amazed. Models are this shop's speciality, (trains, cars and materials for war items) and items for early infancy with a vast range of Chicco toys. The Lenci dolls are a special touch, historical and very expensive. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Antiques market |
4 Alzaia Naviglio Grande Milan, Milan 20144 Italy +39 2 8940 9971 http://www.navigliogrande.mi.i... |
On the last Sunday of every month (except July), the region's biggest antiques market fills the banks of the Naviglio Grande. Over 400 stallholders - most of whom are regulars - specializing in anything from furniture, watches, porcelain and silver to books, toys and period clothes, have been coming here since the market first began in 1982. Finding your way around is easy as stalls are numbered (even numbers along the Azaia Naviglio Grande and odd numbers along the Ripa di Porta Ticinese). Come and pick up a bargain! A fusion store |
3 Piazzale Antonio Cantore Milan, Milan 20123 Italy +39 2 837 3814 |
This is a 'holistic' store, for the health of your whole body, which also stocks a range of women's clothes and a selection of therapeutic and meditative new age CDs, accessories for the young, ceramics, items for your home, minimalist lights, perfumes and toiletries which are reasonably priced and will soothe your soul. The range of clothing is fashionable and ultra modern, aimed at those looking to establish a perfect psychic-physical balance. However, as clothing is not the only thing that matters, the shop is also used as an evening meeting place where artists and musicians discuss their work, and art exhibitions are held. All activities are on the cutting edge of the new Milanese trend uniting fashion and spiritual equilibrium. It is for you if you are eager to experiment and are not irritated by new fashions.
