This appealing café has by far the best Greek cuisine in town. A small fountain and flourishing plants create a miniature conservatory. The chalkboard menu always includes inexpensive and imaginative entrees. Start with the luscious scarlet peppers and beets. Follow with a Greek salad of hand-torn romaine dressed with vinaigrette. Braised lamb simmered in a tomato sauce or the souvlaki, chunks of lamb, tomato and onion wrapped in pita, are flawless entrees. For dessert, opt for the kataifi, a syrup-soaked shredded-wheat pastry. Domestic and Greek wine and beer, mineral water, soft drinks and tea are available. Salonica also offers a small take-out deli counter.
