This restaurant features a variety of foods from many different Asian cultures. Start with an appetizer of Vietnamese spring rolls stuffed with shrimp, chicken and noodles seasoned just right. The flour-battered squid or cracker crust Mongolian pizza topped with glazed chicken, peppers and mushrooms are also excellent starters. Continue with an entrée of Burmese shrimp and chicken curry or Thai curry beef. At the stir-fry bar, load your bowl with a choice of five meats, four sauces and 20 vegetables. Complement your meal with beer, wine, tea or soft drinks.

This stylish restaurant offers elegant surroundings for business lunches or quiet dinners. The upscale menu offers a variety of cuisines, including Szechuan, Cantonese, Mandarin and Hunan dishes. The succulent Peking Duck, the house specialty, is a whole-roasted duck served on a bed of fried rice and scallions. This is possibly the finest Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities. Family-owned and run, the Rainbow boasts time-tested recipes and a rich interior. Seafood is one of the specialties of the house, but the place does a lot for vegetarians, too. Pan-fried vegetable dumplings make the perfect appetizer. Start off with one of the many noodle soups or cashew salad. Duckling or beef with mustard greens, sliced chicken with peapods, water chestnuts and baby carrots and tempura-style prawns with broccoli and red curry sauce are highlights of a diverse and delectable menu. The Rainbow offers a full bar.

Shuang Cheng Restaurant

Means 'Twin Cities' in Chinese
1320 4th St SE
Minneapolis, MN 55414
United States

This noisy restaurant in Dinkytown, with its mismatched tables and chairs and crepe paper streamers, is considered by many to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the state. The extensive menu features numerous dishes containing seafood, fish, beef, pork and poultry. The seafood asparagus stir-fry with shrimp, scallops, squid and asparagus is sure to please. Try the soft-shell crab in black bean sauce, or ask for a whole walleye to be brought to your table. The fresh rice noodles tossed with shrimp and scallops, chicken with garlic and orange peel, Peking duck or salmon with black bean sauce are extraordinary.

The mall of the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul transforms into a fairground for this annual event. The main draw are the dozens of local restaurants offering up a taste of their specialties. You have to buy tickets to purchase food or drinks. Activities range from clothing and jewelry vendors to kiddie carnival rides. Big name music acts play on numerous stages, all free. Hang around for one of the best fireworks shows in the state. Most vendors take credit cards, but the food ticket booths do not.

Visit this small restaurant near the University of Minnesota, bustling with students and flavorful smells. The menu offers many different entrees and a full wine and beer list. The menu includes many seafood dishes in addition to vegetarian dishes. Lunchtime deals are great with an array of items available under $7. The dining area itself is not very large and the décor is minimal, but it is always full of life. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick.
