An updated Miss Kitty's |
1300 Lagoon St Minneapolis, MN 55408 United States +1 612 825 2525 http://www.barabilene.com/ |
This restaurant puts the cosmopolitan into the west. Head here for an upscale repast in a relaxed atmosphere, where the service is excellent and the food is imaginative. Longhorn skulls, cowhide seats, lariats, and black-and-white westerns on the multiple TVs state the theme. Great appetizers, happy hour specials, and people watching make it a favorite among Minneapolis patrons. The menu is American Southwest featuring mesquite-grilled salmon and beef. Try the chili powder-seared catfish, an excellent tamale, pasta or a burger and fries. Appetizers are the size of Texas. Leave room for a baked apple tostada heaped with cinnamon ice cream and rum caramel sauce. The bar boasts 100 tequilas and 25 flavored margaritas. You can also try a Mexican beer, cocktail or soft drink. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Make the scene in the hot zone |
2916 Hennepin Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55408 United States +1 612 824 7878 http://www.chinolatino.com/ |
This joint in artsy Uptown is usually wall-to-wall people, noisy and busy. Chino Latino is about dressing well, being current and making the scene. Look for the sparkly glitter marquee. If you can, stake out a large round, comfortable booth or group size table. The food and drink is as chic as the crowd. The menu features dishes from south of the border and Asia with many selections being hot and spicy. Choose from tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, Sweet and Sour Chicken, spring rolls stuffed with shrimp, chicken or noodles, shrimp and chicken curries, or Thai Curry Beef. The bar serves Japanese Saki, wines from France, Italy and Germany along with domestic vintages. The beer list is one of the best in town and cocktails are made with 'top shelf' liquors. Of course, soft drinks and fruit juices are also available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dinner And Latin Beats |
501 E Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55414-1122 United States +1 612 331 3360 |
This Latin Bistro doubles as a bar/nightclub. Some favorites from the dinner menu are the chicken in garlic sauce, spicy shrimp Creole, beef tenderloin, and paella. After dinner, the fully stocked bar keeps the Latin beats drumming to bargoers and salsa dancers until 2 a.m. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Long-Time Mexican Favorite |
36 Dale Street South Minneapolis, MN 55102 United States +1 651 221 9682 |
La Cuc's started humbly in the 60s with a single location, a beer and wine-only license, and surprisingly spicy chips and salsa. The menu has expanded to include an impressive number of vegetarian and seafood options as well as the usual spiced meats. The portions tend to be quite large. Though this venue can get very crowded, afternoon and late evenings are perfect for grabbing a signature margarita with your meal. Locals continue to flock here for good, local food with real Mexican flair that walks the line between Minnesotans and spice. -Marie Richie Review © 2007, Wcities |

Delicious Mexican food |
1070 Nicollet Avenue Target Plaza Minneapolis, MN 55403 United States +1 612 338 6272 http://www.masa-restaurant.com/ |
You are encouraged to overeat at this popular eatery that offers contemporary Mexican food. Do not stop after having the house specialties—Sopes Surtidos and Enchilada con Pollo, which are part of the appetizer menu. Go ahead and grab an entree like the Camarone con Salsa Guajillo. Let your stomach muscles stretch a bit more as you dig into the Sea Bass con Chile Ancho-Piquin Salsa. Round it all off with scrumptious desserts like Arroz con Leche or the Flan de Coco. You can leave your parking woes to the valet or find some space in the nearby Target Ramp. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Expansive Bar and Dance Floor |
1032 3rd Ave NE Minneapolis, MN 55413 United States +1 612 331 7955 |
Many Mexican joints claim to be authentic only to end up being a disappointment. However, this one stands behind its claim and you can believe it. The décor is Southwestern with an expansive bar and dance floor. Karaoke is featured on Monday and Tuesday nights with Latin music being spun by a DJ the other nights. In between dancing or singing, try your hand at pool, darts or video games. The décor may not be true Mexican but the food is definitely south of the border. If you cannot handle the spicy food, opt for a burger or taco salad. If you go for the spicy, be sure to have a cool beverage nearby. Mexican beer and a variety of flavored margaritas should help quench the thirst of most. Review © 2007, Wcities |
