Minneapolis, MN 55401
United States
+1 612 343 7696
http://www.112eatery.com/defau...
If there are any nonbelievers out there saying there isn't world-class cuisine in Minnesota, send them to 112 Eatery and they will eat their words, along with every tasty morsel put in front of them at this popular restaurant. The food here has been praised by publications like, eh hem, Food and Wine magazine and Bon Appetite. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, also lively well into the night, since they serve late. The Lamb Scottadito is simply to die for, and the Nori Encrusted Sirloin w/ Ponzu bursts with flavor, then gently melts in your mouth. They also have a very impressive and diverse wine list, and a broad selection of dessert wines and ports. People come here for the whole dining experience, and it won't disappoint. If you are thinking of eating here, well, you probably are thinking just like everyone else, so make it easy on yourself and make a reservation.

Babani's claims to be the first authentic Kurdish restaurant in the United States. The unfamiliar menu items may keep some away, but once you try it, you will definitely come back. The richly aromatic cuisine is prepared using fresh vegetables and organic herbs and spices. The Kurdish chicken soup, dowjic ($3.50 cup/$6.50 bowl), and tabbouleh ($3.50/$6.25) are nicely complimented by naska nan wa paneer ($3.50/$6.95), an addicting, delicious house-baked bread. For those looking for a taste bud-tingling entrée, don't miss the kubay sawar ($11.75), ground beef stuffed in fried wheat dumplings, or chicken tawa, chicken layered with potato, green pepper, onion and dried lemon. Prices are reasonable and portions are enormous.

Stepping into the light and airy dining room, you will find a calm escape in this laid back restaurant in a converted home in the heart of bustling Grand Avenue. A crusty French bread with black olives sautéed in olive oil, garlic and cayenne is your appetizer. Skip the usual garden salad; opt for artichoke hearts and goat cheese scattered over a plate of baby greens. Moroccan stews are the highlight of the small, but spicy and exotic menu. The lamb, wild mushrooms, beans and raisins stew is superb. For the vegetarian, it is hard to pass on the bean and lentil stew with apricots and asparagus, served with mint and dill sauce. Dessert can be as simple as a plate of fresh, organic dates or a creme caramel with lots of burnt-sugar syrup. This place is closed on tuesdays.

Storytellers, poets and musicians perform daily. Soups, salads, pizza, pastries and sandwiches are the highlights of the menu. Beer and wine are served, along with a variety of flavored coffee, lattes and espresso. A favorite pick-me-up is the Black Dog with a Bump, a large dark roast with a shot of espresso. Downtown Stillwater is home to many Victorian-style buildings housing a multitude of bars. Duck into the cool interior of this one for a cold beer on a hot summer day. It started as a 1950s meat market, but today the building is home to a restaurant, party room and bar. The saloon is street-level and quite charming. Burgers, corned beef and homemade brats make up the standard-fare menu. Allow room for an ice cream fountain treat. Beer, wine, liquor and soft drinks are available.

London in downtown Minnesota? Yes, at this authentic British pub. Grab a stool by the fireplace in the downstairs oasis or visit the balcony poolroom. If people-watching is your bag, the window tables offer some of the best gazing in town on Nicollet Mall. As soon as the first hint of spring hits, the patio tables offer an even better view. If you are lucky, you might catch a bit of Musicfest being played outdoors at Orchestra Hall across the street. Do not forget to shop for English souvenirs. Lots of paneling, a beautiful old-world bar, and the World Cup on the "telly" make this feel like a bit of London Towne. The menu features a fine selection of British ales and lagers, burgers, sandwiches and, of course, fish and chips. This is a great place to grab a bite in the University of Minnesota. This small Vietnamese restaurant has great portions for small prices. The crowd here is mostly University students looking for a quick bite. Most of the Vietnamese favorites are offered such as soups, eggrolls and spicy entrees. The daily lunch specials are worth checking out.

Uptown's snazziest restaurant is yet another feather in the cap of the D'Amico culinary empire. The animated, noisy dining room is flanked by a popular martini bar and a show kitchen. The place is constantly packed so call ahead. This upscale, casual restaurant specializes in pastas, pizzas, poultry and salads. The crispy cracker crust pizza baked in the oak-fired oven is a tremendous appetizer. The rotisserie chicken and pork loin, along with the grilled veal tenderloin are superb entrees. The Crème Brulee and Ricotta Almond Strudel make for a perfect ending. Choose from the impressive list of martinis, imported beer or wide selection of wine. A noteworthy brunch is served on Sundays.

Portraits of Minnesota's well-known politicians and personalized wine lockers of the city's power brokers and local celebrities clue you in to the clientele here. The clubby atmosphere combined with superb service makes for a dining experience you will not soon forget. The menu is a la carte and the portions are huge. Start with the cold shellfish platter, a gleaming silver tower of cold baby lobster, Littleneck clams and fresh oysters. The steaks are proudly displayed in a refrigerator case where they are dry-aged to perfection. The 24-ounce porterhouse, 20-ounce New York strip and the lighter sirloin or filet mignon will satisfy any appetite. If seafood is what you are craving, the 2-pound lobster, salmon filet or blackened tuna steak should suffice. Large baked potatoes, creamed spinach or asparagus in Hollandaise sauce are fine accompaniments. Chocolate cake, cheesecake or Creme Brulee will bring things to a fine end. More than 300 bottles of wine and an impressive selection of beers are offered.

This is not a place to bring your date, but you are sure to meet some interesting characters. Rowdy crowds, pay-per-view events and televisions blaring different sports games are the main draw. Though there is an outdoor patio, the noisy Lake Street traffic may mean it is actually quieter inside the bar.The food is decent and the menu gravitates to sports bar grub. The first Cambodian restaurant in the Twin Cities, this is a gem waiting to be discovered. For those who have not yet experienced Cambodian cuisine, you are missing something special. Albums featuring colored photographs of most dishes sit on the tables to make ordering easy. Virtually fat free, the cuisine is tangy, fresh and lean. Start with an appetizer of spring rolls stuffed with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts and fresh herbs. The papaya salad, spiked with red pepper, is hot and cool. The lean beef stir-fry is spicy and moist. A rice-flour crepe, folded omelet-style around ground pork, shrimp, cucumber slices and bean sprouts wrapped in cool lettuce and dipped in a rich peanut sauce, is a wonderful blend of flavors and textures. Most desserts involve a combination of fresh fruit, rice and coconut. Beverages include a variety of tea, both hot and iced, mineral water and soft drinks. The prices are really inexpensive too!

Located on the eastern edge of Como Park, this old favorite has graced the shore of Como Lake for more than 100 years. Less than ten years ago, it underwent a complete renewal. It had been boarded up and steadily declining throughout the 1980s. The structure was actually torn down and completely rebuilt, though it has the same design as before. On its wide veranda stage overlooking the lake, free concerts and plays are offered during the summer months. The building houses Black Bear Crossings on the Lake, meeting rooms and banquet facilities. In the summer, paddle boats and canoes are available for rental use on the small lake.

This newly remodeled cigar room, with a sign outside that states "If cigar smoke bothers you, don't come in" is actually a nice little pub that almost gives you that UK feeling. The main bar is flooded with light from large windows, and the backroom is dimly lit and cozy. Old World plaid carpet and giant cigars hanging around add to the British Isle feel. Multiple TV screens, a pub fare menu, and a little terrace (non-smoking) that overlo
