If there are any nonbelievers out there saying there isn't world-class cuisine in Minnesota, send them to 112 Eatery and they will eat their words, along with every tasty morsel put in front of them at this popular restaurant. The food here has been praised by publications like, eh hem, Food and Wine magazine and Bon Appetite. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, also lively well into the night, since they serve late. The Lamb Scottadito is simply to die for, and the Nori Encrusted Sirloin w/ Ponzu bursts with flavor, then gently melts in your mouth. They also have a very impressive and diverse wine list, and a broad selection of dessert wines and ports. People come here for the whole dining experience, and it won't disappoint. If you are thinking of eating here, well, you probably are thinking just like everyone else, so make it easy on yourself and make a reservation.

This cafe is a serene and stylish getaway for vegetarians and fish lovers. The high ceilings, floral carpeting and pale peach walls are nicely accented with green plants and comfortable seating. The restaurant features pleasant views of the Warehouse District. Owner and chef Brenda Langton's nouvelle cuisine showcases organic ingredients and eschews red meat in favor of chicken, freshwater fish and an occasional seafood selection. The idea of sugar-free desserts does not sound tasty but you are in for a surprise. The chocolate caramel tart is a superb ending to a delicious meal. Brenda's features an excellent selection of imported beers and wines.

This place really does "rock" the downtown. Make a date for a late lunch or early dinner. Then stick around as the place gets hopping as a DJ spins those vinyl platters (probably CDs). Dance the night away or converse with friends over a few drinks. Happy hour is big with the after-work crowd as Daddy Rocks offers specials on drinks and appetizers. Tucked away in the back of an old building in downtown Minneapolis, this diner is definitely off the beaten track but far from a well-kept secret. The relaxed two-cook operation serves only breakfast and lunch during the week, but from the way they pack them in, most wish the hours were extended. Coffee, juice, rolls, eggs and toast are enjoyed by the early risers but lunch is the real treat. Inexpensive and tasty, lunch specials range from a barbecue pork sandwich piled high on an onion baguette with cole slaw to a roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Soups, salads, made-to-order sandwiches or a huge slice of the quiche of the day are other menu highlights. Get there early for lunch.

The copper bar is 50 feet long; it is worth the visit just to see it. The menu is big on American fare, with burgers, salads and deli-style sandwiches. The steak sandwich is consistently voted the best in town. Steak, seafood and pasta round out the menu. The appetizers are a meal in themselves, and the desserts yummy. Appetizers are not on the minds of most patrons, although shrimp cocktail or scallops in bacon may prepare the taste buds for what awaits. To accompany your New York Strip, Maine lobster or juicy porterhouse, order a large baked potato, asparagus or broccoli with hollandaise sauce or sautéed spinach and mushrooms. Opt for the Godiva hot chocolate cake or Key Lime pie for dessert. When you serve 10,000 steaks a year, it is obvious you are doing something right. The home of the 'Silver Butterknife', this place with its low lights, smoked mirrors and pink linen tablecloths, the ambience is that of a 1950s supper club. Coupled with strolling violinists and efficient service, you know you are in for a first class evening. Start your culinary adventure with an appetizer of hickory-smoked shrimp, wrapped in bacon and served with cocktail sauce. The salads and baked potato are huge, but dwarfed by the 28-ounce Silver Butterknife steak or the four-pound porterhouse. The smaller New York Strip steak or Broiled Walleye will surely satisfy those who are looking for a lighter meal. No one leaves without having a slice of Lemon-Angel Pie: a meringue crust with a tart custard-lemon filling, topped with whipped cream. The wine list is impeccable and the beer selection is first rate. Cocktails and soft drinks are also served.

Walk into this little piece of Ireland and you'll feel you've been transported to the Emerald Isle itself. Owned by a native Irishman, no expense was spared importing the entire décor from his native state. Live folk music can be heard most nights. Authentic Irish dishes, especially those made from potato, are found throughout the extensive menu. Try colcannon mashed potatoes or a potato pancake called boxty. Fish and chips, Stout-based beef stew and salmon are also featured. Imported and domestic beer and ale is served by the pint. Wine, cocktails and soft drinks are available.

The surroundings are colorful, bright and comfortable. Noted for its excellent and classically prepared sushi bar, it also specializes in tempura, teriyaki and Japanese noodle dishes. Rosen's Bar & Grill

A Popular Hangout
430 N 1st Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55401
United States
+1 612 338 1926
This is a popular hangout before or after a Target Center event. Owned by and named after a local sportscaster, you might even catch a glimpse of some of the subjects of his work. The place is usually packed wall-to-wall on game days but the wait is minimal for the lunch crowd. The noise of the crowd combined with the multiple TVs blaring different sports events can be deafening. However, refuge can be found away from the crowd in the high-backed booths. Darts, pinball and pool provide distraction from the TVs. The food is well prepared and all entrees are less than $10. The burger platters are hearty and the pasta plates are piled high. The salad and sandwiches are generous portions also but make for a lighter meal. On warm days the early arrivals can grab a window (it can be opened) or sidewalk table.

Stylish, yet comfortable, this cafe will fit your agenda of leisurely nibbling a crackers and cheese appetizer, sipping a fine wine and conversing into the evening. Cactus plants adorn the pressed linen tablecloths and the ceiling will remind you that you're in a Warehouse District eatery with its exposed ductwork and gray paint. The cuisine is best described as carefree, as American favorites are prepared with a touch of Asian, Mexican and Mediterranean flavors. A New York strip steak, Moroccan chicken, jerk-seasoned pork chop or grilled sea bass will begin your journey through the worldly menu highlights. The vegetable stir-fry or tuna steak is sure to please. Finish with a chocolate-hazelnut brownie with banana ice cream, peach cobbler or bread pudding. The wine and beer list is as international as the menu with vintages from Italy, Germany and France, and brews from Thailand and Belgium.

The name says it all. This is a comfortable, 1950s style cocktail lounge. The over-stuffed, well-upholstered booths invite conversation and help patrons forget their problems for the time being. Cigar smoke fills the air and brandy is sipped from crystal snifters. Be forewarned, this place strictly enforces a business casual dress code. A light dinner or late night snack can be ordered from the limited menu featuring sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and appetizers.

If you want to see and be seen, this is an essential stop on any downtown bar expedition. While seated, you'll swear the world has slowed to a snail's pace. No one moves quickly here, especially the servers, but then that seems to be part of the charm. If you're in a hurry it can be annoying, but grab a table by the large windows and enjoy the view. Settle back in a comfortable, private booth and once the food arrives, you will soon forget the wait. The first bite of the tasty soup, salad, chili, grilled cheese sandwich or BLT will soothe hunger pangs quickly. The Wildlife offers an upscale beer and wine list to complement your meal. Appetizer and cocktail specials brings in the after work crowd.
