What started as a few local artistes showing their work on the corners of Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street in the early 1970s has evolved into a ten square block extravaganza of epic proportions. Artisans from all over the upper Midwest and throughout the nation have flocked to this artsy neighborhood of south Minneapolis, turning the Uptown Art Fair into one of the largest outdoor art shows in the United States. A variety of food, beverages, and free entertainment is also available. Admission is free but street parking limited so be prepared to pay a premium for a spot in one of the few lots.
