A shopper's paradise |
At the corner of Highway 1 and Carmel Valley Road Monterey and Carmel, CA 93923 United States +1 831 624 8886 |
For almost a quarter of a century this shopping center has been one of the best of its kind in all of California. With unique shops, galleries, salons, clothing stores and first-class restaurants, there is something here for every discerning shopper. The place is also surrounded by gorgeous gardens and brick walkways. You should not make a visit to Carmel without coming here. It is a great place for old-style shopping and the absence of any major department store makes it even more attractive. Credit card acceptance varies by store. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This shopping mall encompasses more than 600,000-square-feet of retail space filled with just about everything you could possibly want. This is not really an upscale touristy place like The Barnyard in nearby Carmel. It is your basic, run-of-the-mill suburban mall. You will find a Macy's, a Mervyn's, bookstores, art galleries, eateries, lots of clothing stores, gift shops, stationers and more. Make a day of it at this shopping Mecca. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This new restaurant was voted the best by Adventures in Dining Magazine's readers' poll and it offers a delicious variety of Central California coastal cuisine. Locals haunt the place. The selection of wines is designed to perfectly complement the dishes: a 1998 Honig Sauvignon Blanc is paired with Mustard-crusted Halibut, for example. Seafood favorite by a respected name |
57 Fisherman's Wharf Monterey and Carmel, CA 93940 United States +1 831 373 1851 |
Vaguely nautical from the outside and quite contemporary from the inside, this restaurant is one of four ventures by Peninsula celebrity chef John Pisto. The interior is white on white on white with a few indoor trees and potted palms adding patches of green. The paint job plus the amount of light that filters in through the oversized windows causes the place to almost sparkle when the sun is at its peak. Guests dine on fresh fish, seafood pastas, wood-fired pizzas and, the house specialty, calamari prepared in one of a half-dozen different ways. See website for menu and more. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The dramatic, panoramic view of Big Sur is probably this restaurant's primary claim to fame, but the cuisine and wine list have also earned a reputation among well-heeled travelers to the Monterey Peninsula. Dine on creative and contemporary dishes like Roasted Day Boat Sea Scallops or Grilled Colorado Rack of Lamb. Most of the vegetables and many seafood items are harvested just outside the hotel.
