Forge in the Forest Restaurant

A Romantic Getaway!
Corner of fifth Avenue and Junipero Avenue
Monterey and Carmel, CA 93921
United States
+1 831 624 2233
The Forge in the Forest Restaurant is a romantic place to go to for its 'old charm' atmosphere. The garden patio seating is beautiful and warm with heaters, fireplaces and classy bricked decor. The food is a bit too pricey for the quality but the decor and the wine bar makes up for it. The brick fire pits, copper walls and lush landscaping just add to the enticing feel. Also don't miss the desserts which are the best feature of The Forge in the Forest Restaurant. An added benefit is that it even has a menu for your four legged buddy! Yes, they love dogs and it shows.

LALLApalooza Big American Menu & Martini Bar

Big portions and martinis
474 Alvarado St
(at Pearl St)
Monterey and Carmel, CA 93940
United States
+1 831 645 9036
Voted by Coastal Weekly as Monterey's best new restaurant, this place is, as the title suggests, for those who have a passion for large portions and living life to the fullest. The decor tkaes one back to the 1920s prohibition era where the martini was king. The menu includes aged prime steaks, several sandwiches and pasta dishes, as well as several big salads and more martini recipies than you will see anywhere else. A great place for lunch or dinner, and the service is excellent. The wine list features a variety of California wines.

Rocky Point

Right on the ocean
10 miles south of Carmel on Highway 1
Monterey and Carmel, CA 93921
United States
+1 831 624 2933
This is the only restaurant in the Monterey area that is right on the ocean. The inside is subdued, but it offers huge windows that are practically on the cliff. Watch sea lions, pelicans, and everything else as the waves come crashing in. The service is impeccable for the locals, tourists and wedding parties here. Specialties include swordfish steak and Filet Mignon. The wine list is fairly extensive. Day or night, the view is awesome.

Sandbar & Grill

Otters outside your window
Municipal Wharf 2 N

Located right on the waterfront, this restaurant has a spectacular view of the water. You will even see otters leaping around right outside your window. The friendly professional staff serves up great seafood dishes like Dungeness Cracked Crab ($18.95) and several steak, pasta, and grilled dishes. Most importantly, this place features the only piano bar in all of Monterey. Will's Fargo Dining House and Saloon

Classic western steakhouse
Carmel Valley Road
(11 Miles from Highway 1)
Monterey and Carmel, CA 93924
United States
+1 831 659 2774
This classic western steakhouse has been serving up massive portions of meat and seafood for more than 40 years. You have the choice of dining inside amidst the turn-of-the-last-century decor, or outside on the patio. Either way, you will be able to choose exactly how you want your steak cut and cooked. The service here is dynamite. Go for the 22-ounce Porterhouse or the rack of lamb with pesto. This place includes a neat saloon, and you can even buy meat to take home.
