Sponsored by Germany's first public service broadcaster, ARD, this event features a series of concerts by some of Germany's best young musicians backed by the renowned Bavarian Radio Orchestra. The first rounds of the competition are held in various venues around town; the finals, an orchestral concert and a chamber concert take place in the Residenz palace's fantastic Herkulessaal.
