First reconstructed church |
Neuhauser Straße 14 Munich, Bayern |
The ancient church was constructed in 1709-10 according to plans by G.A. Viscardi and it has served as a church since 1778. Destroyed in World War II, it was the first church to be reconstructed in Munich in 1945-46. The facade is in its original condition and on the lower floor is the last resting place of the Jesuit Rupert Mayer (1876-1945) who fought for the resistance against the Nazi regime and is still revered by the people of Munich. On the upper floor you can see the renovated chapel. Review © 2009, Wcities |
