Poetry Slam did not originate in Germany but, like McDonald's and Levi's, is a popular import from our American brethren. The idea of a verbal acrobatics competition with the public as the judge was first thought of by Chicago poet Marc Smith in the mid-1980's and was exported to Munich a decade later. The event takes place in the Substanz pub at 8p every first Su of the month. Review © 2007, Wcities |
