Munich's best-known fair |
Mariahilfplatz In der Au Munich 81541 Germany +49 89 233 0300 http://www.auerdult.de |
The Auerdult, Munich's most famous fair, is held on Mariahilfplatz three times a year: in May it is called the May Dult, Jakobidult in July and Kirchweih Dult in October. The fair features hundreds of market stalls selling everything from crockery to second-hand clothes, dozens of food and drink stands and a fantastic fun-fair with dodgems, merry-go-rounds and a big wheel. Great for adults and kids alike. Free admission. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Oktoberfest for insiders |
Theresienwiese Schwanthaler Höhe Munich, Bayern 80336 Germany http://www.muenchner-volksfest... |
Though not as well-known as the Oktoberfest, the Frühlingsfest (Spring Festival) is smaller and just as much fun. In fact, the Frühlingsfest is a bit like the Octoberfest for insiders -the beer tents and fun-fair rides are still there, but the tourists are gone. Great news for all those who like the beer-swilling, oompah band kind of atmosphere but find the crowds at the Oktoberfest too much. It's held in the last week of April and first week of May every year. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Summertime Festivals |
Coubertinplatz (Olympiapark) Munich, Bayern 80809 Germany +49 89 3 0670 (Olympic Park) http://www.olympiapark-muenche... |
The popular Sommerfest (summer festival) on Coubertinplatz is similar to the Oktoberfest, but is more relaxed, less commercial and aimed at a younger crowd. It takes place every August for two weeks. Another festival takes place concurrently: the Theatron Festival, a small open-air amphitheatre near the Olympic Lake which hosts all that Munich's music scene has to offer in the way of rock and jazz. The prices are reasonable, but do not forget to bring a blanket and some warm clothes if it's cold. Admission is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Every spring the Munich fairground showmen and market vendors organize a little funfair on the Theresienwiese. This stops the boredom before the start of the Oktoberfest: The Spring Festival of the Munich fairground showmen. Review © 2007, Wcities |
