Surrounded by wonderful countryside, Lake Staffelsee has seven islands. To the west lie extensive hills and moorlands. The Staffelsee was formed from the melted ice of the Loisach glacier, and the lake's dark, slightly murky waters are a particular feature, as is the swift warming of the water in summer to 25 degrees Celsius.
