Drexl guest house is a small family-run business quite a way away from the city centre but with good local transport links —it's only 12 minutes to Marienplatz by underground. Rooms are simply furnished and the decor is reminiscent of a traditional country house.

Perfect for those who want to enjoy the bright lights of the city but also appreciate the countryside, this hotel is situated not far from Lake Starnberger See in the upmarket district of Gauting, within easy striking distance of both the city and the Bavarian countryside. Displaying a fine mix of elegance and simplicity, Hotel Bären is luxurious without being pompous. Located in Solln, one of the nicest and most peaceful parts of Munich, the atmosphere in this hotel is traditional and typically Bavarian. The hotel was renovated in 1997 and houses a restaurant, run by the same family for four generations, which serves up good home cooking. The wonderful beer garden, surrounded by old chestnut trees, is a great place to relax in the summer.

Hotel Strobl

Bavarian charm
Wolfratshauser Straße 54
Baierbrunn
Munich, Bayern 82065
Germany
+49 89 744 2070
http://www.hotel-strobl.de
info@hotel-strobl.de
Located in a traditional Bavarian village in the lush River Isar valley, this is a place to come if you fancy some peace and quiet. Despite being some way out of the city, this hotel is far from being cut-off, as the S-Bahn railway gets you to the city centre, airport and exhibition centre easily. The pleasant atmosphere in the hotel can be put down to several factors. Firstly, the hotel's interior is traditionally Bavarian (with a few contemporary influences) and marvellously intricate in its detail throughout. Secondly, the service is exceptional, providing a personal and courteous service to all its guests.

Hotel Wasserburg's location is good for business travelers and people traveling through, being just five minutes away from the motorway (Salzburg, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), 15 minutes from the city centre and 25 minutes from the airport. The hotel is quite new and offers a good level of modern comfort. The rooms are not sensational, but very pleasant nevertheless. A decent Chinese restaurant has been incorporated into the hotel.
