Being right opposite the main station, this well-established hotel is far from quiet, but it does benefit from being situated in the heart of the city. Family-run since the beginning of the last century, the current owners, now the third generation, have renovated the hotel and modernised its facilities. All rooms come with bath, toilet, telephone, fax and internet connection and are spaciously and generously furnished. Regal magnificence |
Promenadeplatz 2-6 Munich, Bayern 80333 Germany +49 (0)89 2 1200 http://www.bayerischerhof.de info@bayerischerhof.de |
More so than most hotels in the city, the Bayerischer Hof has a fascinating history. It was built in 1840 by King Ludwig I's architect Maffei to provide first-class lodgings for visitors to the nearby palace. The Montgelas Palace, which the hotel bought in 1969, was initially a Minister's residence and later became the seat of the royal administration. Elegant and sophisticated, this is one of the leading hotels in the region, with spacious rooms reflecting a variety of stylesHotel Bayerischer Hof—part modern in Laura Ashley vein, part traditional and classical in the style of the Montgelas Palace. Its various restaurants offer quality cuisine, with contemporary international dishes in the idyllic Garden Restaurant, Asian specialities in Trader Vic's and wholefood and vegetarian fare in the Palais Keller. The Bayerischer Hof Nightclub is one of Germany's top jazz venues. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cheap hotel in a central location |
Amalienstraße 12 Maxvorstadt Munich, Bayern 80333 Germany +49 89 28 2086 http://www.hoteldachs.de |
A simple bed and breakfast hotel in a fifties building located in the university district between Schwabing and the city centre. The 50 rooms are decorated in varying styles and all have telephones and TV. Most rooms have an en suite WC but not all rooms have a bath. Many just have a shower, meaning that the prices are relatively moderate. A well-managed, no-frills establishment with a relaxed atmosphere and prices to match, Hotel Dachs is deservedly popular. This small bed and breakfast hotel, privately run since 1972, is situated in one of most beautiful and peaceful areas of the Old Town. It is particularly popular with business people, yet tourists often stay here at the weekend because of its proximity to the city centre and opera house. In addition to the usual single and double rooms, it also has two apartments, tastefully decorated in bright cherry-red wood with all mod cons. Breakfast is from the buffet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hohenzollernstraße 9 Schwabing Munich, Bayern 80801 Germany +49 89 39 8001 |
Centrally located in the Schwabing area, Hotel International München is a bed and breakfast establishment with an especially comfortable feel. The clientele consists mainly of business people and weekend visitors. The service is unobtrusive and efficient. Because many of the rooms overlook the garden, they are fairly quiet, despite being in such a central position. Located to the north of the main station, Hotel Ludwig is not particularly quiet, but it is very easy to reach and is a good starting point for exploring Munich, with Karlsplatz (Stachus) and the town centre just a few minutes walk away. The hotel itself is a good option for guests looking for decent accommodation, which won't break the bank. The rooms are admittedly small, as in many city-centre hotels, but they are pleasantly decorated and well-furnished. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Central location |
Leopoldstraße 120 Schwabing Munich, Bayern 80802 Germany http://www.mercure.com H1104@accor-hotels.com |
This bed and breakfast hotel on the northern outskirts of Schwabing is easily accessible from the motorway, though still only a short distance from the colourful Schwabing district. A modern building, all the glass and steel gives it a bright and uplifting feel, as does the interior which, although comfortable, tends towards understatement. The rooms are in a similar vein, being spacious, airy and equipped to high standards. The service is spot on: the staff are always at hand but at the same time discreet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This modern, mid-range hotel is some distance away from the city center, but close to the Technical University, the museum district and the bars of Neuhausen. Good transport facilities are on hand. Furnishings are bright and tasteful, although perhaps a little cool (marble and glass tables—very 1980s). Rooms are small but functional with modern facilities (fax modem connections), bath or shower and WC. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Centrally located in the heart of Schwabing, between the English Gardens and Leopoldstraße, this comfortable hotel has a very individual style and contains many reminders of Schwabing's artistic past. Comfortable family-run hotel |
Landsberger Straße 20 Laim Munich, Bayern 80339 Germany +49 89 504004 |
Accessible on public transport (although not centrally located), the Westend is a friendly, family-run hotel which offers remarkable value for money. Some of the rooms have just a washbasin and no private shower or WC, but they are very inexpensive. The owners are flexible and quite prepared to make up additional beds in the larger rooms on request, so this hotel is especially suitable for groups and school parties. Review © 2007, Wcities |
