An outstanding combination of a select restaurant with fine Asian cuisine and a traditional beer garden. Set in a calm and charming location near the Isar, Mangostin Asia is adorned with a variety of far eastern sculptures and plants, yet while it is undoubtedly beautiful, it can often get very full. Decorated in colonial style, the restaurant offers sushi (expensive) as well as a selection of well-known and exotic Thai and Japanese dishes.

Like its larger branch Shoya at 85 Gabelsbergerstraße, this place uses the freshest ingredients and that all-important know-how to prepare its sushi. Professional knowledge doesn't come cheap however. Various types of sushi because it's high quality, its customers, many of them young and fashionable, are happy to pay the price.

Spontaneous musical events help to liven up the atmosphere even more. Try the yakitori and maki rolls, accompanied by a glass of Altötting beer. The Japanese games shows and soap operas on the TV behind the bar are also a source of great entertainment.

Not only trendy sushi is served, but the long menu also offers many typical (and not so typical) specialities from the Land of the Rising Sun. Delicious tempura EUR 18 is a popular favourite, while main courses EUR9 and an interesting set meal for EUR47.50 should leave you satisfied. A low-priced business lunch can be enjoyed for just EUR6.50. Some come here just for the karaoke!

http://www.sushi-zen.com Light, minimalist Japanese style, pale wood and dark blue decor ornamented with a little black lettering, Sushi Zen has no superfluous accessories and no strident color tones. The atmosphere is very Zen. When the little restaurant on Volkartstraße is full, though, it has to be said that the noise levels rise, because the tiny tables are somewhat tightly packed together. The menu includes nigri sushi ( EUR 2-5), maki sushi (EUR 3.50-8), inside outside rolls ( EUR 7-10.50), hand rolls (EUR 7) and mixed sushi ( EUR 15). If you think that sushi are just simple little rolls, you about to be re educated! There are, of course, hot dishes (about EUR 8) and soups (EUR 4.50). There is a 10% discount on takeaways.

Traditional Normal Japanese dishes are of course available, but what makes it special is the fresh sushi and sashimi. You can even watch the impressive Japanese cooks preparing your food! The tasty 'snacks' are available in different combinations (from EUR 12) or à la carte for EUR 3 apiece.
